Re: [MOD 0.16] Stone Age (alpha)

I've since removed sand entirely. I just bumped its drop up to 2. - I like to play with Mountains (now Cross Mod), so code which turns any stone dropped from an entity break into jagged rock rather than stone, in lieu of not being able to mine large rocks at all, would be welcome if the tool is at ...

Re: The Problem With Pickaxes - Digging Out Factorio's Core

After reading that all ... i must say ... WTF??? Really? How want a pickaxe when you can have automated machines! I find they make it right, and clean up that useless piece of code. And for that who want to have a pickaxe ... play Mincecraft. Hmm... ...yeah, Mincecraft is offline ;) There's really ...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

But I feel like 99% of the arguing disagreement in these forums is because we all have a passionate vision of what “our personal Factorio” looks like. Yeah, and I'm not expecting mine to be very common, so I mod my installation. A lot! This is why a major concern of mine with the #266 stuff is how ...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

I say, let mods get posts from those 2 angry people moved into respective threads, while we talk about science changes here, ok? There's five at this point, but yeah. I think 30x Concrete (or even more) would make much more interesting choice for utility/yellow science pack instead of rails. It ser...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

Whoa, since when do you know what I mean? You are building the strawman here. Unlike you, Zavian understood that the words "research titanium axe" mean that you have a "titanium axe" research. I don't see an explanation of "it is not solved" in your original reply. Nei...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

Why do I need a Pickaxe to pick up a building I placed a while back. I have used a Pickaxe many times in real life, and let me assure you, the results would need a repair pack to be back to normal and be “placable” again. The whole idea that unplacing takes longer than placing - often compounded by...

And I shall conclude with the "give link if you find one" with several quotes, you can click on the little arrows to go to them: Problem not solved: I research ... Common man, play fair. Common man, play fair. Taking five words out of context like this is called "quote mining" (...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

So you unlock titanium. You make some. Then you research your mining axe upgrade, using a science flask (or other item that a lab can accept eg possibly a custom item that looks like a titanium axe and has a recipe like making a titanium axe) that is made (at least partially) from titanium. No, tha...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

This is 0.17 - quite unlike any prior release - so guess which plan the way-overdue-for-a-good-vacation devs chose. Some of the team who posted here in response WERE on holiday. They still chose to respond to you and engage in the game they love. One of the least best solutions is to remove the ino...

Re: Did no one else notice massive nerf of tank in 0.17?

The tank is still a giant leap forward when you unlock it and feels strong. It doesn't for me. It's already borderline vs. turret crawl and a heavy armor character with a rocket launcher, and I still need to set up defenses anyway. I mean, it's not like I'm going out there for alien artifacts anymo...

Deathworld much? I doubt it
No. Honestly I don't even see why Biters get so much dev time. I'd rather some other - simpler resource drain to expansion.
I prefer something like this or formerly this. Which doesn't really work without axes.

Okay, so somebody noticed that the Tank has been nerfed so it's a Smash 4 jigglypuff. Discussion thread.

Re: Did no one else notice massive nerf of tank in 0.17?

I'm gonna cry wolf on this. Did the tank of all things really need to be made weaker? Welp, that pretty much makes the vanilla tank completely useless for me. I'll just grab second-tier heavy armor, a rocket launcher for the spawners, and an SMG for the bugs. Thanks for posting this, it would have ...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

One of the least best solutions is to remove the inoffensive popular bugfree pickaxe and then code up a whole new mechanism to replace it and then dump the whole mess on the unfortunate modders. FTFY with the link to the thread they started approximately fitting that description. It's not as bad as...

Re: The Problem With Pickaxes - Digging Out Factorio's Core

However with things like Inserter upgrades, or laster shooting speeds, those are actual upgrades. What's a laster? Oh, you mean laser. Oh, you mean faster. ...actually, it kinda doesn't matter  There are lots of mods which have tiered upgrades and ammunition; I don't think any of them disable ...

Re: [0.17] Adding Ore Hardness and Pickaxes back in

I'm going to see if I can ring up the StoneAge guy, since script-modding hand tools is already his schtick, and his mod already uses both, and these changes will probably mean starting over from scratch for him. Summon him and he shall apear ;). For whatever reasons, it seems that I get stuck...

Re: Fixing NPE - Full Burner Start

So, I've read the whole thread, and it's pretty interesting how opinions contrast with my masochistic mod packs, most of which disable both hand crafting and hand mining (yes, this is the same "featherwinglove" who has kinda appointed himself the axe's champion almost by accident.) Despite...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

I have over 2000 hours in Factorio, and I'm in favour of the pickaxe removal. How is that relevant? How does that give you the right to deprive every other player who has over 2000 hours in the game of a feature you don't like? Please stop complaining about this change in unrelated topics. The prop...
