Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality
Say you have an iron gear assembler and a roboport assembler. A quality module in the roboport assembler is doing MORE THAN FOURTY-FIVE TIMES as much work when it's working as if you stuck the same module in the iron gear assembler. Even if it's idle 97% of the time, it's still better off in the ro...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality
Yes, I find it much better to get the legendary raw material and then craft, as you said, for a recipe that needs red or blue circuit it takes a lot of time and imagine crafting 56 times that amount, while the legendary raw material can be obtained from recipes that are very quick and make the red ...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality
To boot, high quality quality modules are nutty expensive, and best used where the most material possible will be moving through the smallest number of machines, which is the final assembling/recycling loop (in much the same way that productivity modules are best used first in the machine that the ...

Note: I was surprised by the result, I mistakenly believed that mmmPi's method was cheaper. If I have made any mistakes, I would appreciate it if you would let me know, thank you. There was spreadsheet from bicycleEater on the forum with the costs associated with the probabilities and that yielded ...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality
Imagine you have your first 4 to 10 quality module, would you put them in the inserter assembly ? the roboport ? the armor ? the reactor ? the spidertron ? something for the space platform ? I'd put them in the assembly loop for higher quality quality modules. But where ? at the very begining first...

That is not always the same key depending on your keyboard , some non-german don't have the Ö as 1 key but instead this place has keys with different functions, that must be a change from discord affecting certain keyboard layout improperly.

Re: Alphabetise item icons in rich text by inventory order
I've added an image to the OP with a visual example of what I'm hoping for, to hopefully make it crystal clear to everyone (and any devs who happen to stumble across this post) what this suggestion is about :) The title says "Alphabetise" , but the picture shows "Electronic Circuits&...

Re: Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups
And I didn't even have to explore the "roaming labs on space platforms" idea, where you just have a bunch of laboratory platforms running about to pick up science from each of the worlds and analyze it in space since export to platforms is unlimited by virtue of platform count being (so f...

Re: Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups
maybe a filter combinator ? Maybe something like a sensor for the planet that would tell gravity or pressure or day-cycle ? My first thought was some kind of sorting combinator; select minimum/maximum (non-zero) input. Lots of interesting possibilities. If it was a sensor would it require a separat...

Re: What is the exact shape of a curved rail?
A spline in this context is a piecewise polynomial function I agree that 'piecewise' is a important distinguishing feature. Typically they are not of interest for their own sake, but as approximants or interpolants. Thank you for highlighting what i missed, those 2 words word i didn't realize were ...

Re: Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups
Also, why else would the gravity of the various planets matter? I guess they could put a weight limit on the character as well, but rocket cargo seems a good use. It would make some places better for mining available everywhere resources (assuming there are any), or for production. You made me thin...

Re: Version 1.1.89
This has increased the size of the doc-html folder from 26 Mo in 1.1.76 to 173 Mo in 1.1.94. Which is fairly negligible when Factorio's own folder went from 1800 Mo to 1900 Mo. Which made me wonder : how big is the wiki itself ? If it's also around 200 Mo (or less), why not also include the latest ...

Re: Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups
I'm still very concerned that much of the multiplayer aspect will be even more isolated with the remote view changes. It already seems like everyone is just standing around not doing anything late game, because we're doing everything remotely with bots. I feel like we'll have to ask constantly what...

Re: Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups
I really like the animation for the platform growth, it has the same feeling as the moving parts of assembly machines. I really like the logisitic group and the ability to edit multiple constant combinators at the same time accross the map. Those 2 features being introduced even without the expansio...

Re: What is the exact shape of a curved rail?
They may perhaps be 'splines' in some generic sense of the term, but they are certainly not Bezier curves or anything closely related to them (e.g. Catmull-Rom), which is what is normally meant by the term in the context of computer graphics (and the way it has been used in this thread). The latter...

Since I've been banned from everywhere recently, from LinkedIN to our local Reddit copycat, I simply can't leak anything to anyone. But I'm also OK with a full-fledged NDA and whatever means would be necessary to uphold it, if you want to. Good argument  one cannot silence an idea (or a stubbo...

Re: What is the exact shape of a curved rail?
Funny you should mention RCT. [..] I learned about the latter part through Marcel Vos. I see you are a connoisseur of the fine arts x) I'm tempted to think that a game from 1999 or so decided against using the square of acceleration deliberatly for perfomance reasons. I know factorio also does take...
