Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

If you want to address this issue, then buff belts, because they, not the bots, are the real problem. +1000. I'm on my first real attempt at a mega base. I normally go full logistic bots early but for whatever reason, being distracted or this thread, my base is almost 100% belts. I have bots bringi...

Re: Friday Facts #221 - 0.16 is out

Now that I have been playing 0.16 for a bit, need to add my 2 cents to this on a few of the changes. 1) belt compression. This really needs to be figured out/tweaked. The way everything runs right now is I get little gaps everywhere in my smelting columns that are just too small for an inserter to p...

And moving large amounts of ore/finished items is too easy with trains. Belts are more challenging/fun to do that so let's get rid of trains too.

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

Allow people to play according to their playstyle. Factorio has always been a game you can play in many ways, and having an option (such as logistics bots), doesn't force anyone to use them. This is the most important point. Just because someone thinks belts are more fun or you're lazy if you use b...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

Also, Devs, take a look at some of the things I did with Robots.... instead of just needing to build a frame and a circuit, the recipe is a lot more complex, requiring a "Robot brain" (okay, that one isn't much more complex than just adding a few more circuits with base game stuff) and a ...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

I agree with a lot of the posters that if you think robots make it too easy then don't build them. I am on my first 0.16 Vanilla playthrough and I am setting up my last science pack and still haven't set up any kind of logistic network. I love bots but I am making it through at a good pace without t...

Re: questions about purchasing the game on steam

I bought it on Steam and started having issues with it launching with Steam client with 0.15. So I went standalone. You just need to link your SteamId with your forum id here and you can download a copy directly. If you buy it direct, dev's get more money but I'm not sure how you get it into Steam i...

Re: Accidentally crafted stacks of burner inserters...

I had a reply for this thread earlier in my latest Bob's mod game. Upgrading to mk2 robots and ended up with a chest of them. But got those into the network when I upgraded to mk3. Wasn't going to post but then last night got my rocket going and everything going great and then the rocket control mod...

Re: I need a new objective....

Bob's mods. It changes the whole game so much for the better you may not want to go back to vanilla. I would suggest upgrade planner, YARM, and the robot replacer chest mods at a minimum if you do Bob's Then if you are nuts: Bob's Mods+ SpaceX. I saw an estimate that launching your first rocket in s...

Re: Automatically upgrade belts/splitters/undergroundies?

upgrade planner is soooo much better than beltupgrader. The latter requires the bots to remove all the materials on the belts first and it shuts your factory down step by step. Klonan's works instantly with the stuff in your inventory so just set up auto-trash to get rid of the old stuff. He also ad...

Re: Blueprints! Why didnt you tell me this before?

I think the HUGE improvement in blueprints now is the library and being able to import blueprints from your other games. So I went out yesterday and grabbed builds from my previous games that would still load (concentrating on the Bob's mod builds with the insane amount of fluid processing). So now ...

Congrats on 1MM! Watched the video, when does part 2 come out? I found out about Factorio through quill18's let's play that got me intrigued enough to download the demo from the site and was instantly hooked. 600 hours later and still no end in sight for me.

Re: solar power plant better than nuclear reactor

The problem I have at the moment with nuclear is the 235/238 ratio. In my first playthrough my first patch of uranium only could fit 3 miners. With the processing ratio, I could not physically mine enough uranium ore fast enough to process to keep one nuclear reactor going. I was only getting 3-5 pi...

It's updated for 0.15. I'm in the middle of a Bob's mod play right now.

Re: can we have superstructure (wonder)

Try SpaceX mod. You have to automate things you never had to before like top tier shields and such. You have to launch a rocket for each piece but it extends the end game quite a lot.

And if you still have that pre-launch save, you can get the "So long and thanks for all the fish" achievement by launching something other than a satellite.

Re: Difficulty curve and how to keep players till end game

My 2 cents, some of the achievements don't pop in Steam either when you earn them in game. Steam doesn't show that I completed circuit veteran 2 and 3, the blue circuit equivalents, getting killed by train, surviving the 500 hp blow and others that I earned in vanilla. So there has to be some of tha...

Re: Does anyone even use rocket launcher or landmines?

Haven't used flame turrets either because I usually go straight to laser turret. But this game I'm going for the bullets all the way achievement. That one allows flame throwers to be used, right? Yes it does. And using flame turrets with a maze outside your walls just nukes aliens. The range for fl...

I'm on my 2nd 0.15 playthrough. Didn't use requester chests on first one and this time I'm playing with Bob's. I cannot wait until I get robots this time through. Seems like all I'm doing is replacing walls that the new spitters can one shot  My last 0.14 playthrough I was at 3000 logistic ro...

Re: Friday Facts #191 - Gui improvements

I like the proposed changes overall but could there more features given on how to sort inventory? Especially playing with Bob's mods, I have to hunt everywhere for some things that I just crafted or need and it takes forever because the sorting method now doesn't make sense to me. Would be nice to h...
