except that it's a pain to have to carry 2 levels of drills, I already only ever carry stack inserters and long inserters with me rather than all of them even if it'd be 'better' if I used regular ones or fast ones than stacks, and it's frustrating to have to go fetch the odd filter inserter, I don'...

There's an items on ground select it might just be as simple as adding items on belts and you can clear all the belts into storage chests and have the logistics network reload them

I wasn't suggesting mine out the entire thing with burners look ... 90% of this field is mined with electric and if/when you need less or you get acid you can convert to all electric and then filter.

Yeab but if you're going out 7000 tiles for an oil outpost you're probably passing 10-12 others on route that could all be merged onto the same train, with no appreciable extra distance going out 7000 for an ore deposit that'll last the lifespan of your end game is reasonable, going that far for oil...

like the trains idea but the belts I'm going to suggest the same thing when infinite modules idea came up, a new item that the boost effects and leave the rest alone, infinite belts like infinite modules would initially be the same benefit as their little brother but there's a substantial extra cost...
