I prefer the realistic stream of flame to the fireballs. Just leave a puddle of burning wherever it's aimed and rake from target to target, leaving trails of burning polluting mess.
On that note, forest fires should be a thing.

Re: Factory (Assembler) Tile Blueprints
Can you post a screen of it in action? I'm having trouble visualizing how this splitter setup works on the outputs.

In any case, getting it into the steam library is very nice. And that goes for any game.

Re: Oil Refining
I've also considered bussing wire and gears. The way I see it, it's another buss, but you're cutting demand significantly on the plate buss. This is assuming you split off a dedicated feed from the furnaces. So overall much more throughput, and easier to spot if more gear or wire assembly is needed....

I had the opposite experience. Every time I saw the game, I thought it looked ridiculous! It wasn't until I tried it that I got sucked in. A similar experience to minecraft and some others.. But yeah now I'm here.

Re: End game theory and gameplay ideas
Endless tech tree sounds awfully grindy. Top tier damage things could cost more, maybe even with some unusual things that must be searched out and inserted by hand. But to exponentially cost more for no reason, I don't like the idea that there's no end to it. We do want to get off this rock and go h...

Re: can combinator simplify the refinery control?
Good vid showing the combinator, but he does exactly the same setting that could be done right in the pump itself! I'm guessing for more than one condition you can use those numbered signals to go from the output of one to the input of another.. I'll have to try it out. Thanks. :) Indeed! I've crea...

can combinator simplify the refinery control?
So I'm pretty new at this game, just finished a play through. Getting into the more technical aspects of automation here. I'm pretty happy with myself for figuring out how to use pumps tied to the storage tanks with red wire to switch the crackers on and off. This maintained heavy oil at 50% storage...

Re: Chemical Processing Layout
Personally I shipped the sulfur out of there on a belt. Water is easy to source, can make the acid anywhere. I didn't want the factory and the refinery on top of eachother.. Blue circuit production had to be expanded quite a bit!

Re: Oil Refining
In my worlds, my factories at peak production need over 50 refineries worth of oil products! Also, I store my oil in tanks because storing barrels seems a bit cheaty, and I generally only use ~0-4 tanks for crude, but with generally ~9-36 tanks for each fraction. On my game I had just 1 ref...

Just finished the game, took about 48hr. I did get about halfway through the tech tree and then restart because "despaghettification concepts" that I like to call "roads". ;) http://i.imgur.com/DSR6pBT.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qwQhjSx.jpg http://i.imgur.com/l6M4Rko.jpg http://i.img...
