Re: Blueprint Library Feedback

But regular items work as shortcuts too. You also remove those with the middle mouse button. And you no longer put actual things in the quickbar. So it's perfectly logical that it's a link to the BPL Maybe you shouldn't be allowed to delete things directly from the quickbar at all. And the game coul...

Re: What is a good way to refill ammo and place guns?

It depends a bit on if you play deathworld or not. In a non-deathworld game you can just place some turrets around to start with and drop 50-100 ammo in each. That will take care of everything for a good while. Building a large wall per hand is just a waste of time there. Reinforce points under pres...

Re: Blueprint Library Feedback

Shortcuts are great and intuitive. Things being actual items the hotbar was a horrible misstep. In retrospect even the developers can't quite understand how they ever thought it was a good idea Having x thousand hours just means you are used to how certain things work. How new players deal with this...

Re: Completely demolishing your factory because it doesn't seem to support everything you want.

Have you discovered modules and beacons yet? They drastically cut down on the space you need later on. You can do one blue belt of green circuits for example with a handful of machines. Beaconed oil also hugely increases the output in almost the same footprint, whereas normally you'd need a ridiculo...

1.0 isn't really a huge change. It's all polishing. Migrating to it isn't any different than going to 0.18

Re: Completely demolishing your factory because it doesn't seem to support everything you want.

There will always be cases where you have to redo something because it doesn't work or you didn't place or space something correctly. But in time you will learn what you need in the future and can plan ahead more. It's possible to build things in a way that supports scaling up. Up to a point at leas...

Re: Do not understand rail setup

The implementation isn't really much different from railroad simulation games. They have exactly the same concepts. I have my rail blueprints, but I also often do simple junctions, like splitting a stop from a main line, manually. It's not difficult. Especially with dual track. You complicated thing...

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

You don't really need to enter. You can hook up power and belts on the right side and use it that way Biters may be set to peaceful. Or they aren't in the pollution cloud. Biters don't really attack things just because they are there. They send attack groups to main pollution sources and attack thin...

Re: Need help with setting a contidition for an inserter and a train

It is still relatively early game so nothing too fancy yet It's easy to set up a dedicated train even then. Roboports and logistics chests can be added later. It also means you don't need filter inserters to unload the ore (although that can be useful to prevent the wrong stuff from being unloaded ...

Re: Need help with setting a contidition for an inserter and a train

The easiest way is to not use the logic system, but to filter the cargo wagon for specific items Otherwise, reading train contents doesn't work in manual mode In general I'd recommend a dedicated defense supply train though. Because you will have other outposts later. Also sections of wall. And you ...

Re: New Stile Tool Belt

You mean the quickbar? The old one was really bad in retrospect. It was an extra inventory, so there was a constant conflict between what you have there and what you have in the inventory. Now everything is just a shortcut to your inventory. Which means when have several hundred pieces of a particul...

That depends on what you want exactly. You want to read the number of items in a box. So you need to do something with that

Re: Confused about Research process

You can play 0.18. There aren't and radical changes. Mostly it's just about the UI, sounds and optimization

It might actually be better to learn the game with all the new stuff now. Rather than get used to some things in 0.17

Re: Is Storage useless?

boxes didnt fill up despite putting them next to something (anyone know why that is?) You need inserters to move stuff between assembling machines and boxes. Make sure to limit them either with the slots in the boxes or a circuit condition on the inserter. You usually don't want to fill entire boxes.

I never really liked the gameplay trailer. The old main trailer is fantastic though. I love the part where the biters appear and then their attack force gets run over by a train. Will be good to see have that updated.

Re: Confused about Research process

You need to put the science bottles into labs: https://wiki.factorio.com/Lab Generally you handcraft 10 red science to get Automation 1: https://wiki.factorio.com/Automation_(research) That gets you the assembly machine. From there on you can automate science production. At the very beginning a sing...

Re: [0.17.79-0] Fueled Inserters stop working

The blue belt is definitely the problem here. Red belt works.

If downgrading the belt isn't an option, consider using normal inserters in a separate solar powered grid. Or have some steam engines power only the inserters

Re: Choose What's Included in "Alt" vs. Always On

Great suggestion And yeah, even more granularity would be good too. With chem plants being color coded now (liquid and smoke) they don't need to show the recipes while assemblers do. Also you just have a lot more assemblers than chem plants. Furnaces don't really need the icons either once you stop ...
