Re: Friday Facts #206 - Workflow optimisation

Now all stock needs is the functionality from 'Upgrade planner'. Manually replacing yellow transport then red later in my sotck save is soooo tedious and error prone. It is not on our to do list, but I like the idea of Upgrade planner, so it might become vanilla future some day. Suggestion You alre...

Re: Anyone Ryzen Benchmarks?

Hi I Used this save http://www.tuwr.net/~factorio/factory%201%20-%20568hr.zip (without mods) on Factorio 0.15.3 On I5-2500 3.30GHz I got 19.5 UPS On Ryzen 7 1800X OC 4.1GHZ + DDR4 3200GHz I get 22.5 UPS This is bad, a mid-range CPU from 7 years ago have almost the same preference as a new, overcloc...

Re: Rocket lauch timings?

Is that the fastest you can build a rocket? Wouldn't pure speed modules be faster (provided you can produce the items fast enough)? You can use multiple stack inserters to feed the silo form buffer chests so refill speed shouldn't be a limit, right? It's a huge waste to not use productivity, you ca...

The only way I manage to replicate your problem is by setting a manual train and positioning it inside the junction. If the pink train set to Manual the iron train will go strait and get stuck in the PEX station. If the pink train set to Automatic and waiting in the red signal the iron train will g...

Re: Emergency power with delay (Combinators help)

What you need to implement is a S/R latch, this allows to set condition to turn it on and a condition to turn it off. For example switch on when the accumulator drops below 90% and switch the coal off when accumulator is at 100%. In this topic you can find some tutorials on combinators and an examp...

Emergency power with delay (Combinators help)

Hi I have a nuclear power setup and a coal power setup. I want the coal setup to tern on only if power is low so I made this simple setup to connect the steam setup when needed: 2017-08-19_17-51-59.png The problem is that it is very "flickery" turning on and of rapidly, So I want to add a ...

Re: Friday Facts #204 - Another day, another optimisation

the measurements for this chart were done on a different CPU (i7-6700K vs i7-4790K previously) The downside is, that you are entering the realm of architecture-specific micro-optimization. If you aren't careful, it can even be bad for performance. You are "entering the realm of architecture-sp...

Re: Circuit for changing belts?

If you want to stay vanilla you can try this Blueprint your entire base, export the string and enter it here https://alufers.github.io/factorio-blueprint-upgrader/ Set all the replacements you need and import back the fixed blueprint. Now take a deconstruction planer and set a whitelist on it to del...

Re: Factorio Friday Friday Facts #203 - Logistic buffer chest

You don't really need the Logistic buffer chest you can solve many of this looping problems with the Circuit network like this

Re: Use stored items for further production

I have solved this in my old base like this: 1. Wire up you central storage chests together. 2. Distribute this signal around your base on big poles. 3. Build the reclaimer system on the items you want (set the item type in the Combinator). All the reclaimed items will go back to the bus and/or the ...

Re: Simple Combinators question that seems to not be simple

Thank you guys! I manged to use the *-1 method to do what I wanted All I needed is to add 1 combinator to switch the signals to green (each *-1 = green) and connect the Constant combinator to the output not the input. What I was building is a simple early/mid game compact (9x10) setup of 4 assembler...

Re: Simple Combinators question that seems to not be simple

you can either negate the value in the chest using an arithmetic combinator ( X * -1) OR you can enter -50 into the constant combinator. Either way, your inserter condition becomes X < 0 I didn't manage to make it work. I have an activation signal from the Constant combinator, Green 50 in this exam...

Simple Combinators question that seems to not be simple

Hi
I want to set up a Constant combinator with a value in it (let's say 50).
If the box have something more then that the inserter should stop.
if I tern off the Constant combinator the inserter should stop.
Is this possible?
You can add one Arithmetic Combinator or Decider combinator

Thank you

World record for now is 5h 26m 40

So it's possible but probably very very hard as the old 0.14 record is under 2 hours
