Re: FishSandwich's Factorio playthroughs

Fish i forgot, you get more oil/s and total oil if you use productivity modules while the oil yield is more than 64%.
Try spawning your distractor capsules over the spawner(bittets can't attack them).

Re: FishSandwich's Factorio playthroughs

I would suggest productivity modules in all the oil chain factories(starting at the refinery) and speed modules in the pump jacks. If you need to save power i would use effectivity modules in furnaces and assemblers.

Re: How I balance ore/smelting throughput.

If you are going to transport the plates by train then there is going to be a rail near the mines. So you could have a a service train for personal use. The train can be loaded with everything needed for the mine deployment: Roboports, robots, belts, E.furnaces, mines, walls, lasers, poles, all the ...

Re: FishSandwich's Factorio playthroughs

Hi Fish, using speed modules in anything but pump jacks (below 60% yield) its a waste of energy. If you need more output, just build another factory. If you want to get the most out of your oil, you should use productivity modules in your refineries and chem plants. You can use the effectivity modul...

Re: FishSandwich's Factorio playthroughs

I really think... +1 but a few captures with the explained designs would be cool :) About the circuit assembly you miss a pair of wire assembler. Its a modular design, when you build a new module(6 wire assembler and 4 circuit assemblers) you should start by placing a new wire assembler and no usin...

Re: Friday Facts #44 - Decision making

Why only one tank, why not using a few tanks with diferent specific roles like the MLRS from the first C&C, an artillery rocket unit with low defense then a heavier tank with low range. IMHO if factorio is going to have a stratetic RTS element it has to be """strategic""...

Re: FishSandwich's Factorio playthroughs

If you plan to move your mining ops or relocate them, make a blueprint also setting a storage chest near the relocation area will spped up the operation.
You have an opportunity for an easy expansion to the west continuing the northest wall and the wall north to your refinery.

Re: FishSandwich's Factorio playthroughs

Let me show some simply ideas I had. For the Circuit line you could do like this: http://i.imgur.com/zAnr71j.jpg For the Adv. Circuit assembly maybe this one: http://i.imgur.com/zSQi6V5.jpg Pay attention to the expandability by imply replicating que corter around the wire aseembler. A wire assembler...

Re: FishSandwich's Factorio playthroughs

Hi again, you have a bottleneck in you circuit assemblers because you have not enough wire assemblers. For every two circuit assembler you need three wire assembler. Also when turretcreeping don't waste your time building walls, if the bitter can't reach your wall its useless. Instead you can build ...

Re: Restarting a map

Is the string you are sharing from a map generated in a factorio version prior to 0.10.x? You cant get the same map in different major factorio versions and different operating systems. I've made a tool(spreadsheet) to reverse calculate the seed and as soon as I can return home I will add the abilit...

Re: Electronics Department

You can save some kW uing normal inserters between wire aseemblers and circuit assemblers as soon as you get stack size bonus . Once you get the bonus you are going to have balancing problems at full speed beacause the shared wire assembler will be emtptied every arm activation and instead of being ...

Re: Restarting a map

Map exchange string isn't working. When you create a new map it doesn't read the map exchange string input or it doesn't use it at all. The same happens with map restarting option. Luckily It is possible to calculate the map's seed from the map exchange string. If you post the string I could calcula...

Wagon setup https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... 662#p35305
Without a shared wire buffer sometimes one of the wire inserters from the middle assembler keeps filling only one of the circuit asembler while the other inserter can't catch up.

Re: FishSandwich's Factorio playthroughs

Be carefull with you coal situation you need the coal for plastics->Adv. Circuits and explosives, grenades and some capsules. Maybe closing the west area north of the new oil expansion and setting up some solar panels to save some coal during the day could help.

Re: No Enemies 50 hours in. Download link

As you comment in reddit when you restart the map is not the same. Thats beacause restart and map sharing string are broken as of version 0.10.2. Do you remerber de settings of the map? I'm calculating the seed right now! Edit: Map seed is: 0 Now the map settings! Edit2: Maps Settings Calculated. It...
