im running factorio 12.7 and smart trains 0.3.66 Looks like a bug for me, maybe connected with the old version of Smart Trains (and Factorio). I suggest you to just take a look at every mod you are interested in to get own impressions what these mods do.
And don't forget, you can (nearly) always add new mods to an existing game, or remove them, as long as they are not integrated into complex mechanisms of your facility.
