Re: Not zoom to cursor

The world abounds with programs that have both zoom-to-cursor and zoom-to-screen-center behaviors. Some have both in different contexts. This won't be the last time you see either. It pays to just get used to both schemes. It'll eventually just become reflex to use either correctly after encounterin...

Re: Combat Woes

By far the easiest way I've discovered is rocket launcher by hand with a wall of turrets at your back just outside of worm range. Jiggle back and forth to prevent worms and spitters from hitting you while the turrets kill the melee biters. Don't attack biters at all and fall back to turret coverage ...

Re: Friday Facts #381 - Space Platforms

A lot of folks is asking how the items stick to the space-belts. Isn't it obvious? Glue, duh! We will have to catch some new animal, turn its hoofs into glue and use it to builds belts on the platforms. Yeah, there should have been a new type of belt for space. All new assemblers too. I don't know ...

Yeah, there should have been a new type of belt for space. All new assemblers too. It sort of feels like they avoided copying SE even though it has clearly superior ideas and treated suspension of disbelief with more care (mostly). Not invented syndrome here leads to a lot of very poor decision mak...

Re: Friday Facts #381 - Space Platforms

If asteroids only come from exactly opposite direction of travel, could you make a long skinny platform to minimize the asteroid collision threat? In other words, it doesnt seem like asteroids come from the sides I think I saw them traveling at small angles to straight forward. Earendel ran into th...

Re: Friday Facts #381 - Space Platforms

For the people who are worried about space dumping, remember that groundside you have total control over what you collect and produce, so if you don't want something you can just not produce it. Meanwhile in space you have no control over what the grabbers grab, so you have to have some way of avoid...

Re: Friday Facts #380 - Remote view

Im not a speedrunner but if we are designing parts of the game based on the needs of small groups then i have some ideas. About 12.4% of the people who have finished the game on Steam have also done spoonless. That's a pretty big chunk. Speedrunning streams and VODs are also some of the most consum...

Re: Friday Facts #380 - Remote view

What am i using that info for? Im a big fan of throwing information at the player. But it needs to be useful in a way that influences decision making. If you place a blueprint and it doesn't change tint you know that it's not being built without having to wait for the bots to deliver everything els...

Re: FFF is killing me

What I want to know is if Quality will require Space. iirc the quality FFF or the one right after mentioned that green t2 and blue t3 unlock with the initial research, purple t4 unlocks on a middle planet, and orange t5 unlocks on the last planet . I presume that if you have Space Age overhaul disa...

Re: Friday Facts #379 - Abstract rewiring

I can't use steam tanks You don't have to consider just steam tanks. Steam tanks are just the go-to in vanilla since they are the densest storage medium with a circuit output. Iirc there's a way to read the platform accumulator level in Warptorio, so you could just read it directly. If there's enou...

Re: Friday Facts #379 - Abstract rewiring

If you do something like read steam level and make progressively more fuel inserters activate as it gets lower, that's just a spring. If you compress it, it'll exert exactly the amount of force to oppose further compression. For a nuclear reactor, this means the more power you use the less buffered...

Re: Friday Facts #379 - Abstract rewiring

1. Upon respawning, the player will have to dump their new pistol somewhere, such as into a box. This will eventually result in a stockpile of useless pistols. 2. The pistol is craftable, despite being completely useless as you already start with one and there's no use for ever having more than one...
