Re: my first automated lab!

@sbroadbent I noticed you were using smart inserters to put gears and copper plate into an assembly machine. It turns out that you can put a fast inserter and it will grab whichever it needs. I did the exact same thing :P The Smart Inserters are there to control Production, so that I'm not overprod...

Re: Optimal Green Circuit Production

On the question of being compact, it certainly is Optimal. On the question of resources required to setup, the Fast Underground belts (for both lines) do add up. It won't be optimal. The question is what is the rate of production beyond 'non-stop'. Production stats can I believe be found by pressing...

Re: A few questions

Is the game worth the 20~ dollars? Many games out there boast that you get 40-50 (maybe more maybe less) hours of gameplay for what you're paying. Here with Factorio, we count hours of gameplay in the hundreds. I'm sure there are some here who have accumulated 4 digits worth of hours of gameplay :D...

Re: Buying Factorio From Canada Using Pay Safe Card

I used Paypal, and once the transaction was processed, I immediately got access to the game. Not sure where the 6-12 weeks may be coming from. For those who don't have a credit card linked to a paypal account, it usually takes 6-10 days or so before the merchant sees the money, and in those cases Pa...

I was just writing a PM to you before I checked here to see this post.

I think "Multiplayer Factorio", or even "Multiplayer" would be a better name.

Re: my first automated lab!

Suggestion is to press the 'Alt' key prior to taking screen shot to show detailed information so that we can see what each Assembler does. Here's a compact setup I do for Science 1/2: http://sbroadbent.net/gaming/files/factorio/science-1-2.png The best part about Factorio is that there are many ways...

Re: Railroad Fetch Trick

While it sounds like an interesting trick, I think I'd prefer to use The FAT Controller . When you add a train to the Controller, you can send the camera to the train, following it where ever it goes. In addition, you can select the train and add or remove stations as though you clicked on it normal...

Re: Hard mode impressions

When I was playing my Romanesque Factory , the docile Biters was a rather common occurrence. My claimed territory is massive, and the only attacks I ever get when they happen are near the location of my character. If I'm back at home base, no attacks come from anywhere. If I travel to an area, the B...

Re: Turret creeping - I feel SOOOO stupid.

I know about roboport TC. But I seriously doubt that construction bots (especially unupgraded) are of any help in case of hard mode biters. I think biters will break them long before they can actually place anything. I would wait until you have several upgrades of robot speed before trying roboport...

Re: splitting the lets plays into another board

It makes sense to have a forum for Let's Plays, video series and other video journals of sorts. Whether the new board is an entirely separate board or a sub-board of Show Your Creations, is not important. What is important is that it's easy to find. Most forum software I've worked with should allow ...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

I just wanted to say, for those playing in the Hydra Dilemma who don't understand how rail signals work, watch this video: Inzainia Play's: Factorio ver 0.8.0 EP:21 (rail signals) . With that said, if there is anyone at all having problems understanding rail signals, that video will make signals mak...

Re: My station with belt-only ore sorting

I guess that's another approach, one I hadn't even considered :) Only downside I see is that it probably doesn't scale too well to coal and stone (both of which I also need to import, because of smallish fields in the starting area) In this particular factory Stone (and Limestone because I'm using ...

*edit* I notice the spoiler tags don't give scrollbars, so some of the wider images get cut off on the right. Right-click -> open to view the full image. I believe the forum itself cuts images off at a certain width, whether an image is in a spoiler or not. I've been trying to find a good unloading...

Re: About electronic circuits production

I definitely prefer the OP's second pic as my preferred EC build. You can build multiple setups side by side without having to worry about or deal with splitters and underground belts to get iron to the Electronic Circuits, and in one of my factories, I mirrored the EC build on the other side of the...

Sulfur Production and Production Chain

I did a search to see if there has been any past discussions, but while a lot of discussions touch on Sulfur production, I didn't find anything specifically regarding what I was looking for. From my experience, 1 Sulfur Chemical Plant and 1 Sulfuric Acid Chemical plants are more than sufficient to h...

Re: The Hydra Dilemma - A Coop Factorio Playthrough!

Also I agree that its odd how nobody has specifically focused on upgrading the armor. Given that everyone only gets to play 20 minutes of roughly every 100 minutes (1 hour and 40 minutes) worth of game play, no one wants to spend their limited time on the "boring things", feeling like the...

Re: How big is your save game folder?

My largest save file is just under 30MB in size. The total size of the save folder (nothing deleted) is only 264MB in size spread over 15 factories at various stages of development. That's from about 2 months worth of game play which consisted of the month of May using .9.8 and then the month of Aug...

   I hate that moment when you program a smart inserter wrong and it goes wild making 10x what you actually wanted to. Twice I did this in my Romanesque Factory. The first was producing about 4.3K in Blue Science Packs, when I only wanted about 100 in the Logistics Network at any one...

Re: That moment when,

you notice the power problems you're having is because you somehow have ended up with two discreet and independent power networks despite having an ungodly mess of power poles. I had this happen once where the laser turrets on one side of my base was powered by a handful of solar panels because the...

I had an insane blast today playing the demo. I actually went ahead and streamed it and in fact made some new friends but also put it onto Youtube. I got a few people from my community into the game one of them even went ahead and bought the game. On top of that I originally posted a couple questio...
