Re: If you thought tower creeping was dull...
Yeah sounds great as long as there are multiple options for achieving this end. As it stands if this was included in the game now it would kill it for me. May i ask why it would "kill it for you"? Not that the other used tactics aren't somewhat dull too, but at least there are some other ...

Re: If you thought tower creeping was dull...
make something like with zerg? corrupted land, this is rather interesting idea. wow...I have to admit that DOES sound like a neat idea! only able to build turrets so far, they could still be used perhaps as fallback point then, and you'd have to go in with normal military to finish the base.... As ...

Indie vs AAA.
I'd rather play Factorio than Starcraft any day of the week. In fact I get more enjoyment out of Factorio than any Blizzard release since Diablo 2. Good work guys.

Re: Version 0.9.1
Modding should be possible as I believe the developer has either exposed most of the data or plans to in an update. The biggest problem the game has in my opinion is a lack of content overall, but it is a very polished game from what I have seen.

Gas storage and burning for energy production would be a cool addition.

Re: Don't mix training and campaign...
Having a separate tutorial and campaign modes would be a good thing for the overall project. I'm unlikely to play either personally as I much prefer the sandbox side of things but anything that can help people to learn the game early on rather than having them bounce off should be a welcome addition.

Re: Steam Engines should not produce pollution
Think about it realistically for a second. Why would a steam engine produce pollution? Should the boiler pollute? Sure, you burn coal. Should a theoretical oil engine produce pollution? Sure, big time. But there's no real reason for the steam engine to produce pollution. I agree fully. The only pro...

I'm fine with it being easy. To be honest I'd much rather see them add artillery of some kind rather than nerf things so that I can sit safely behind my walls while bombarding the bastards.

Re: Strategy Indie Games
Personally I'd avoid Towns like the plague. There are some serious bugs and badly implemented behavior in the AI that seriously undermine the game. The developers have also pretty much abandoned it to the point where I regret giving them any of my money.

Re: Friday Facts #19 The release buzz
While Factorio does have some issues (in particular balance and research) I'd be more inclined to say that the biggest problem it has is that it is not known. Discoverability is a rather large mountain to climb but it should also be exponential with any luck. I do believe it is definitely time you g...

Re: Some suggestions regarding the rail system
Some quite interesting suggestions there. I'd like to note also that if an expansion of the transport system is likely to take place then improving the control of the trains would also be a welcome addition. Having a single interface that shows all active trains and stations and allows micro managem...

Re: Factorio MMO [Idea]
I am going to be completely selfish and say I hope it doesn't come to pass. Main reason being that whenever games "evolve" into an mmo or into an mmo like experience it generally detracts from the rest of the gameplay. I bought Factorio as a singleplayer game and while I can maybe see some...

Re: is effectivity module op?
I actually like the modules. Though I do think the current implementation is a tad 'dicky'. But I don't really know a better way to implement it to make it less dicky. I love the ability to reduce my energy requirements or speed or give bonus production. I like to think of it as "reconfiguring...

Re: is effectivity module op?
I don't use production modules simply because the whole concept feels too gamey to me. I do however use efficiency modules constantly as a way to reduce my overall pollution levels. Right now with the game existing as it does it's probably best to set your own limitations, since there are bound to ...

Peaceful mode should just do away with enemies completely and add a recipe for crafting the artifacts instead.
