Re: Creating a different kind of belt splitter
I even have a few underground belt designs of my own, I just dislike relying on something that feels like a bug (even if it isn't) to split belts. Plus it's clumsy. Corner belts: https://forums.factorio.com/wiki/index.php?title=Belt_transport_system Tip: slow down the speed and zoom very high in, tu...

Re: Creating a different kind of belt splitter
How do corner belts work? This is two inside corners, but facing outwards. If the current engine can handle splitters and corners already I see no reason why it couldn't handle this (of course there may be reasons I can't see). Edit: The blue box is the outline of the unzipper. The yellow machinery ...

Creating a different kind of belt splitter
I've spent a couple of hours messing around with belts and splitters, trying to make something that acts like this (Photoshop): http://i.imgur.com/QLyJ47v.png I don't know if it's clear from that picture, but I want to make a 1x1 square entity that splits an incoming belt, with the left side being e...

Re: [0.9.8] Electric Stone Furnace
It makes most of the tech-tree involving meticulous coal mining and production completely redundant, thus taking away half the challenge of the game. I wouldn't say that (granted I've had the game less than a week). I still have to mine the coal to run the furnaces, it's just that it's burned in bo...

Making electric furnace produce light
As an exercise in learning how to mod, I made a variant of the stone furnace that runs on electricity. However, as it doesn't use a burner it doesn't emit any light. I tried using the light code from the research lab but it had no effect on a furnace: light = {intensity = 0.75, size = 8}, For refere...

How fortunate then, that we live in a society in which you are free not to download and play this modFisherman wrote:Too easy.

[0.9.8] Electric Furnaces
I wanted an early-game electric furnace , so I made one: http://i.imgur.com/anfONsz.jpg Recipe: 1 x Stone Furnace 1 x Iron Plate 1 x Electronic Circuit Now with advanced electric furnace and associated research! http://i.imgur.com/zGeXDUe.jpg Uses 1.5x the power of the electric furnace, and smelts ...

Re: Why are electric furnaces so expensive?
So why not also have a simple electric furnace with no module slots?

Why are electric furnaces so expensive?
As the thread title says. I started a new game (my first) and I see I start with coal- and electric-powered versions of inserters and drills and electrical generators already available for construction, and yet and electrical furnace is buried in the tech tree and requires several hundred green scie...
