Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
It's still a nerf, but if bots could not carry ore and metal plates that might "promote" belt use more. Personally I'd still prefer to use bots as it's a powerful thing that the player has earned, another option could be to limit bot stack size to 1 for ore and plates.

Logistics Tram / Trolley
TL;DR Pathfinding "bot" that uses tram-track infrastructure What ? An additional method of logistics could be the Logistics Tram or Logistics Trolley. The Trolley comes from a Depot and is connected via infrastructure (Tram Tracks) to directly insert from/into Requester Chests and Provide...

Re: Game not launching - white screen
Cause found: RivaTuner Statistics Server 6.4.1 RivaTuner is a piece of software I use as a frame limiter to get smooth frame sync, and it is also used by MSI Afterburner to have a small OSD for fps and temperatures etc. When RivaTuner is set to "None" for Application Detection Level for th...

Re: Game not launching - white screen
I also have this issue - white screen after running the Factorio exe following by a ding (warning message) that it has crashed. This was with a fresh install of 0.15.23 Windows Zip version which works fine on my Windows 7 main PC but not this W10 one. I also tried running my old 0.15.19 zip version ...

Re: What game did I play - multiplayer memory
There might be a better file to look in, but give this a go - it might only work for last session, doesn't look like a log with much history: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Factorio\factorio-previous.log do Ctrl-F to find the word "joining" and you might get an IP address for last game ...

Re: Client FPS/UPS drops until unplayable
Thanks, I'll give that a go. Does the debug info hint at where I can optimise the world, whether it's graphics like trees or smoke, too many biters, belts, bots, trains, land in memory etc?

Client FPS/UPS drops until unplayable
On a LAN game the host can play the game just fine at ~60 FPS/UPS, but the client drops down to 5 FPS/UPS where he becomes completely paralyzed and cannot move. The game is literally unplayable. I've attached images of some debug info, can anyone help me understand the numbers? I've also attached th...

Re: Friday Facts #160 - Playtesting
I actually don't want the people to explore much. It just makes the map huge and this game is not about exploration, it is about building a Factory. Exploration is a major part of Factorio though, big factories need vast resources, particularly with multiple depleted oil sources (nice improvement t...

Re: Version 0.13.11
Not sure if it's only me. Or all in my head. The game feels like since update. 13.9 to 13.10 and now 13.11 has been consistently slowing down. Game play feels jittery and laggy both online and offline play. It's mostly noticeable when fully zoomed out. Playing on win 7, through steam with no mods. ...
