Re: Train stations V vs H

part of the problem is using a Poll to collect data - they don't work, and they provide completely inaccurate data. the only useful statistical data metrics are polls that also require voters explain why they chose what they chose. without explaining why you choose something, your choice means noth...

Re: Friday Facts #133 - The train struggle

"Heavy Loader" idea isn't bad, but i cant help to think that it messes with the nature of the insertions. Small graphics edit for inserter's hand and it will look great : ) Kinda grabbing tool with multi-layer carrying slot, or magnetic hand like in scrap yard, however there're quite many...

Re: Train stations V vs H

I think they should just split the difference and implement both methods....stretch the graphics but use gaps to keep from looking too ridiculous. it was my impression the Blog ended on that note as a likely final solution. These are far from perfect, but with some little adjustments, like a connec...

Re: Friday Facts #133 - The train struggle

The ideal solution would be to change the perspective or use a true grid and 3d graphics. But this would mean to rewrite the game from scratch and/or tap resources that a small indie studio doesn't have. So I say yes to at least have the train work around That's probably for "Factorio 2: Biter...

Re: Friday Facts #131 - Roadmap shuffle

There's great mods out there that already have some of the stuff you guys are going to add (flamethrower turret and the fluid train). It would be AWESOME if the gamedevs could have a little time here and there to just look over some of the mods, ask the mod creators for permission and just put the ...

Re: Train stations V vs H

As I had just realized in the FFF thread, it might also work to redesign train components to be square and thus evade the issue entirely. Nothing says that railcars and engines have to be as long as they are now. I added an option to the poll but... Goddam, system haven't warned me results will get...

Re: Friday Facts #133 - The train struggle

Guys, it's probably time to VOTE to help devs with this issue.
Who knows, maybe they're trying to make unnecessary job now, and there's an easier solution that will be warmly accepted, or we will encourage them to make it exactly in the way they've already started it ;)

Train stations V vs H

At recent FFF Wube have shown how they are planning to deal with well-known train length issue. Screenshots weren't accepted too warm, and I think it's time to make a small pole, that hopefully will help (but not force in any way) to make right decision how to solve the issue. UPD: "Ooops"...

Re: Friday Facts #133 - The train struggle

I'd rather see a gap in horizontal and no gap in vertical train stations - that stretching doesn't look right. I know you guys are trying best, but I think the best solution is just fix wagons to grid, so all wagons have similar inserter setup, and leave us with the fact we have to have saparate H a...

Re: Friday Facts #131 - Roadmap shuffle

can we wait a little longer for the Fluid railcar to be ready? "please delay the Fluid railcar" Wow, that's really can be easily understood like that, now I see it : D However that doesn't makes much sense to ask devs "not to hurry" with smth)) (makes some, but really not much))

Yeah, how about a random chance to build a banner instead of assembler?
Or biters running in "try our new battery booster" pixel art pattern?

Re: Friday Facts #131 - Roadmap shuffle

I know, significantly late, but can we wait a little longer for the Fluid railcar to be ready? That's basically what the FFF says : Stuff that had to be postponed to 0.14, so we can deliver the rest: [...] Fluid wagon Yeah, it's clear and DaemosDaen realizes it - read carefully: he just agrees to w...

Re: Friday Facts #132 - Side Project

I really want it to be true that there is a mobile version or will be in the future but I fear we are being trolled after looking at the calendar. :D Well, as you know, Wube managed to wipe out belts lag not so long ago, i.e. too much optimization before game could run on (relatively) weak mobile d...

Re: Friday Facts #131 - Roadmap shuffle

I thought it also included being able to use fluids as a fuel too, and many more fluid intergrations that arn't there yet. Damn, it'd be great! However this should force reworking some existing stuff. To make, say, cars and tanks running on liquid fuel, and implementing second train engine - solid ...

Re: Friday Facts #131 - Roadmap shuffle

Cool. At first look it more like usability and graphics improvement, but I smell it will change really good game to even better. Just make enough to research automatization, and craft an assembler and a single more furnace - not actually "hoard". Keep in mind, copper plates are needed as well.

Re: Friday Facts #125 - Achievements

Never really paid attention to the very early items, but I believe, burner miner can be crafted with only assembler 1, doesn't it? And it's probably even kinda more fun, cause it'll prolong burner age a bit : ) No, the burner miner requires 3 items and can therefore only be made in an assembling ma...

Re: Friday Facts #125 - Achievements

I calculated the count of items needed, and it was 101 I believe, so I added 10, so you don't have to painfully wait for ever with one mining drill etc. until the automation 2 is researched. Well, then you have to add kinda "tier 2" achievement with exact minimum manual crafting for "...

Re: Friday Facts #129 - The late game

I just believe that the "HOW" this is done should remain the "CHOICE" of the player. Completely agree. I just meant, if we never couldn't transfer oil in barrels before - I doubt very much, absence of ones would bother ridiculously much less people, than taking them away after t...
