Re: [14.22] Linux: Steam: Freeze or crash on startup
Hmm, I tried it on our Ubuntu 16.04 computer, and the game worked even with Steam overlay. I noticed you both have Radeon GPU and same version of driver, couldn't it be caused by the driver? It is possible, although I did get the same on one computer with Geforce GTX 960, and it does work with over...

Re: Train Roundabouts
Answer to OP from 13th of April (and other people thinking about this): If you are using the smallest possible roundabout you never need to allow more than one train inside the roundabout at any one time, which means you can just get rid of the signals inside your roundabout and repathfinding won't ...

Re: Loader Poll - Trying to get an idea of what the opinions are
I really like the idea of loaders, no matter what graphics it uses, but I would like to see the limitation like how you connect pipes to the assemblers. What I mean is that you have 2 spots, one input and one output, if you choose to connect loaders/offloaders there you get away free of electricity ...

I'm sorry BenSeidel, I don't follow you, to me it looks like nothing you say comes from reality, it must be some language barrier or something.

Re: Anyone Ryzen Benchmarks?
The pure function thing was a dig at the terminology of the industry. Putting "pure" in front of "function" is like putting "metallic" in front of iron. It's there by definition. Likewise there is no such thing as an "impure function" it is either a function ...

Re: Performance with HD textures
Don't worry you still have the normal resolution, and you also have a compressed texture setting for even less memory demand.Vectura wrote:So I will need a 4gb graphics card to run the final game with the high res textures? Welp, I REALLY hope the low res textures will remain an option then!

Re: Anyone Ryzen Benchmarks?
There are many techniques for introducing parallelism into your code, and the idea of "streams" is probably the worst out of the lot. While the are really easy to explain and make really nice powerpoint slide shows they don't really work in the general case. This is because, as you said, ...

Re: [14.22] Linux: Steam: Freeze or crash on startup
I didn't want to leave any stone unturned, and tried turning off steam overlay in the steam settings, and then the steam version of factorio starts up just fine too. Extra info: To make sure where the error lies I installed a bunch of other games (Prison Architect, RimWorld, Reassembly), turned on o...

Re: 0.15 due on 24. April?
Any bets on this date for a 0.15 release? I think it's possible. I feel it in my guts.... I bet 2k blue circuits, a steel axe and one fresh fish that the first 0.15 public experimental will be released european lunchtime on Tuesday May 2nd. I am happy I lost my blue circuits and stuff, easil...

Re: Anyone Ryzen Benchmarks?
In the future someone in the dev team will discover C++14 and parallelisation on big datachunks through streams. What does c+=14 have to do with parallelism? We can already use threading and we do for rendering and chunk generation. To a big extent it is C++11 too, but parallelism and allocators is...

Re: [14.22] Vanilla freeze (sometimes crash) on startup loading
I have the same or very similar problem, tried on 5 very different computers (amd/intel/radeon/nvidia) running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS based linuxes (Normal, Gnome3 and Mint-Cinnamon), all of the steam version (fresh installs) crash or hang during startup. Then I downloaded the 64 bit tar.gz from factorio'...

Build a factory in Minecraft, it will take lots of time and you will be so happy to be back in Factorio on tuesday.

Hopefully so all this cry babies can start screaming for 0.16. You skipped the "OMG this one bug needs to be fixed asap because I am the one suffering from it! Ignore everything else!! and the "How dare you implement this feature not in the way I wanted it implemented?!" phase. :P Ye...

Re: Factorio Roadmap for 0.15 + 0.16
If 0.15 is not released soon this community will collaps in on itself, creating a vortex sucking each and everyone in, placing them in a hostile world where they need to mine iron and copper all day long and hide from biters. Real life Factorio then, I guess the ultimate dream for many of us. As lo...
