Re: Friday Facts #159 - Research revolution
Stupid hurricane Matthew, now I'm stuck posting this from my mobile until The power comes back. Devs, have you thought about letting players choose their team's spawn point at the beginning? Just cordon off an area and let the first member of a given team choose a spawn point. It may or may not be b...

Re: Nuclear Power from a Nuclear Engineer
I agree with the above, this is not a waste management game, Call the leftovers isotopes. use them for research and allow refining them into depleted uranium for bullets and/or plutonium for nukes. As mentioned before, if you're building an ICBM, the rocket should be the cheap part. what if you can ...

32 bit is dead, long live 32 bit!
Good call devs, I'm glad you made the call.
Side note, any word on belt optimization?

Re: Massive multiplayer suggestion thread
would it not be a good idea to limit the size of the map? i only just noticed this setting. As I said last night the map is potentially exponential therefore the server can't handle the massive increase in size of the map including the new biter spawn areas which i assume just continue expanding ou...

Re: Massive multiplayer suggestion thread
Decrease alien numbers and increase individual alien strength That was the idea behind Behemoth biters/spitter, but I think that basically just turned into harder enemies to kill with the same numbers. Really? Huh, well I guess that part of optimizing the AI code is either low priority or forgotten...

Massive multiplayer suggestion thread
Okay folks, bring on your suggestions for massive multiplayer games. First I'd like to suggest some settings that should be on by default when a server is set to say 50 or more players. Auto teams, when you join a massive game you should automatically join a team, with its own color/colors, and most...

Re: Arumba07 stream
I heard in the stream the New York server company was already experiencing problems before the stream started, it's quite possible that it wasn't the players who DDOS'd the server.
I'd like to see them try again with the New York server, it should of netted better results but didn't.

Eliminate the engine from factory vehicle construction, let players place them in the equipment grid. what if the vehicle health was based on components in the equipment grid, with shields and armor pieces taking damage first? Allow players to place/mount any weapon from the game into the vehicles g...

consider this another vote, It shouldn't be too hard to give vehicles the same upgrade features found in power armor.

you're missing the option for customizing vehicles and turrets like you can with power armor.

Re: Modular Vehicles + Vehicle Assembler.
I would say skip the custom vehicle assembler GUI, just have a regular factory make your chassis, which you then outfit with parts just like you do with power armor.
Oh, and there should be an amphibious APC chassis.

Re: Guys, How do you feel about the killing power of tanks.
Why do small and medium biters even hurt the tank? I know of no animal on earth that can damage a tank, so why are small biters even harming the tank? the worst case scenerio I can think of when dealing with small biters is if one gets wedged inside one or both tracks, jamming them. Oh and the playe...

Any one here ever play space empires V?
the reason I bring this up, is they had an interesting thing about their tech tree. It has no limits on many research categories, namely, weapons, shields, armor, hulls etc. http://www.orionsector.com/pages/se/images/se5_research1.jpg it should be noted that further Improvements do tend to decrease ...

Re: RTS direction
I don't see any real way for players to compete against each other on the same map. The raw mechanics of Factorio really force players to work together, as it is difficult to run out on one's own due to biters. The only other option is to grief another player's build, which hasn't really happened d...

Re: Guys, How do you feel about the killing power of tanks.
Can you imagine an AI tank trying to follow you through your base, never mind an army of them? It's probably better they can't move on their own. In terms of PvP though, yeah. That'd be pretty sweet. That would be epicly bad if it worked that way, but if you had them work like deconstruction bluepr...

To be fair, legged robots make more sense for an alien world with rocks and hills and such. Yes, legs are better on rugged terrain, but the technology is very complex, so expect limbed robots to be a late game development if they're ever developed at all. Even then expect drawbacks, as the extra su...
