Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

I do like the idea of each oil fraction having a unique product it's used for.

[Moderated by Koub] no insults please.

I have enough gray hair and I am far above nonsense like that.

Maybe it's me who is misunderstanding you.

And honestly, all this talk about dumbing down just makes you all come over as elitists.
It's elitist now, to want the game that I used to find interesting to stay interesting?

Then hell yes, I'm an elitist.
That's not what I said, accessibility and depth are not opposites.

Needier graphics that are completely opt in? Like you don't have to do the high res versions, I know I don't. And honestly, all this talk about dumbing down just makes you all come over as elitists. Like, stuff like "I'm not even going to respond to that" etc. doesn't make ya'll come over ...

Thank you both, I ended up adding RSO and using it's "regenerate resources" command.

Re: Version 0.17.60

the UI is something I can arange myself with, still imho it robbed the game of its charm. now it looks like a sleek thing that apple would sell and has no personallity whatsoever. Picks are not an issue for mods, lol. meaningful simplicifaction - in a game that is all about COMPLEXITY! wrap your he...

Re: Version 0.17.60

But yeah, tbh I'm expecting Nefrums to improve on this split. And if he manage to improve it by, like 10 minutes, we'd have to recognize that bots aren't delayed that much by the recent changes. Not in real time (10 minutes) but in overall proportions (1h20 vs 1h10). Translate those 10 Minutes into...

Re: Version 0.17.60

I don't get why you guys are so aggressive. I didn't even express any stance (agree or oppose) on the new basic oil processing recipe. (In fact this week I was spending time on other stuff, don't even have time to look into this.) I am still neutral to this recipe, till this point. I was just propo...

In the old way though, depending just how much lube you were after, you could run a mix of basic and advanced processing.
I always just ran advanced completely and had a circuit-controlled cracking setup attached to it myself.

Re: Version 0.17.60

Just a recommendation to devs. When there are any "very" controversial/unsure/experimental features, can they be implemented as mods (instead of minor versions)? Modding is not only done by players, but can be done by devs as well. So you're saying the experimental releases aren't suited ...

And there you have it. Only one dev was willing to discuss this major change with the community. That should remove any doubt that this was a dog-and-pony-show.
I mean, I wouldn't exactly be enthusiastic to engage with the doom and gloom that's happening in this thread as a dev...

Re: Version 0.17.60

Please feel free to tell me which part is a hyperbole. The bit where you and several others in this thread are acting like a small change you don't agree with suddenly means a complete change in game design direction for Wube? It changes the way we play the game. "Finishing" the game isn'...

Re: Version 0.17.60

You can dredge up as many euphemisms as you like. "Smoother difficulty curve" = easier earlier. They made it easier because some people couldn't be bothered to figure it out. This change adds nothing to vanilla Factorio. Making any struggle someone might have with a concept to just be abo...

Re: Version 0.17.60

Professional game designers know a tad more about game design that appeals to the mass market . That said, many of us were hoping we'd found one that wouldn't go down that road for once. Hyperbole much? In the long run this change changes nothing to what you need to do to finish the game. All it do...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

I do think we also have to take in account that like, we, the people posting on these boards are generally the people who invest / have invested more time in the game. Like, we're not a representative slice of the people who play factorio. I'd say, try it out a bit, give feedback, wait until the dev...

Re: Bugs & FAQ

I seem to be having the Rubyte only spawning around Coal issue as well, I thought maybe it was just a new way for it to spawn at first but now I'm in need of more lead to continue to basic circuit boards but there doesn't seem to be any Rubyte in the area. https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

I mean, I don't think saying stuff like the devs are being mindcontrolled is really a helpful way to drive home your side of the argument. Like, they haven't done any actual changes yet, that's why they're interacting with the community. It's not like they made the changes and then went lalala with ...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Simplifying basic oil processing breaks bases relying on a mix of basic and advanced oil processing to have perfect ratios for heavy, light, and petroleum. It basically screams use circuit controlled cracking instead of pre-calculating usage and build in perfect ratios. Rocket fuel requiring 10 sol...
