Re: Loading certain amount of items to vehicles?

ok, I never tried to unload the fuel deposit. however, this is great for building gas stations. just have one inserter inserting fuel and another one taking it out. as long as there is space in the fuel deposit, it will be filled. if it starts filling the trunk, the other inserter will start emptyin...

Re: 2^x vs y*10^x

While the powers of 2 have the advantage of rising exponentially, for everyone who is not a programmer or informatics student, multiples of 10 just feel a lot more natural. And you can have some exponential steps anyway, by using 1, 2, 3... 10, 20, 30... 100, 200, 300 etc.

Re: Trains vs conveyors?

The strong point of the trains compared to belts is that you can set a route for every train, even if they are using the same tracks. However, right now this strong point doesn't matter so much, because all you normally do with trains is to carry raw materials to your main base. I like the idea of h...

Re: Loading certain amount of items to vehicles?

hm, I remember having emptied a car with inserters... another trick for the problem with the exact driving: use belts to bring your car close to the inserters. you just have to drive onto the belts and then the car automatically gets pushed towards the loading/unloading station. leave one space howe...

Re: My first completed free play

1.5 cable assemblers feed one circuit assembler. so you can actually have 3 cable assembler feed 2 circuit assemblers. however, I like to just build one assembler 1 for circuit and one assembler 2 for cables. it's not perfect, but it's easier to set up and expand.

Re: So i have an issue with the alien things

the spawners are impossible to kill with machine guns. you need a shotgun or a flamethrower for that. also get some capsules. poison capsules are good against worms (hit and run). another strategy that works for small bases with just one spawner is driving in with a car, right through the spawner. T...

that's exactly why we need pre-signals. come on, devs. don't wait with this until after the multiplayer!

Re: Belt Spaghetti (my first real 'base')

I think the devs said they're going to fix the tier3 assembly machine to accept 5 (or even 6?) ingredients. Then you can build everything in assembly machines. however, you will have to produce advanced circuits and speed modules, which requires the whole oil industry. So making a reasonably small a...

Re: Belt Spaghetti (my first real 'base')

you can use the two sides of a belt separately for different items, for example red and green science packs, so you don't need these huge belt construction to feed the labs. just run by one belt with both types of flasks and you're good. ;)

Re: Compact science 1-3 factory 0.75/s with minimal dirty tr

very nice one! It's a bit over the top for practical use, but that doesn't really matter if you build it just for the beauty of the design. one small suggestion: use a 1 tile tunnel in the iron/copper belt next to your smart inserter assembly to output them directly onto the belt. if you're not low ...

Re: Science Packs 1 - 4 Factory

I'm pretty sure you could move those assemblers around so that one gear assembler feeds the needs for that entire factory, although I'm hard pressed to believe that it could keep up with production if you were doing constant research. As for the circuits, it's either keep as it is or add another ci...

Re: Science Packs 1 - 4 Factory

Hey guys. Today I built another science design. This time it's a different approach that's not really useable for normal gameplay, but I must say I like the beauty of it. There are two things I don't like, however. First, there are two gear assemblies, while I wanted to have just one shared between ...

Re: Science Packs 1 - 4 Factory

that's very nice, indeed. thanks for the link. however now with the liquid stuff involved, it would probably become bigger. In my setup now I'm having problems to keep up with the raw material supply. It's really crazy how much iron and copper it needs to run at full speed. I guess generally I could...

Re: Rethinking the (very) early game

I agree that the beginning of the game is rather boring. Even more than the burner stuff it's the mining things yourself. I guess this is some leftover from the minecraft origins of the game. While it's nice in theory, to go from nothing to a fully automated factory, it's boring to repeat this every...

Re: Science Packs 1 - 4 Factory

I expanded my compact 1+2 science factory to add blue science too. It's now about the triple size, but that's still very compact, considering the complexity of blue science. I have 6 blue assemblies for them, so technically they can't keep up with red and green production, but since lots of techs do...

oh, for me it always works. as soon as they get attacked by a turret, they would forget about pollution and attack the turret back. maybe in your corridor they just tried to walk around your walls to attack the turrets from behind?

Switching peaceful mode off in a savegame?

Hi guys

I started a game in peaceful mode, but I got bored of the peace. Is there a way of getting the biters to attack me again? Maybe editing the save game directly?
