Hi, when I read about the "throne room" concept, it made me wonder about implication for modding...
What if we can sort of mod a city building game with this? What if all units you control from "throne room" is a mix of humans and robots (or just humans)? In case of human-only, one could just as easily ...

Player would enter it, and he could start control the game in rts style, at this phase, he would already have robots for building stuff, and units to fight, so he would just order what needs to be done in bigger scale ...

Heck, maybe just a Throne room for other worlds, but also an RTS setting in world options would make the game be permanently in that mode from the start.

Main point, in case I didn't say it very clearly: I definitely want the throne room, but be careful you don't emphasize creating an army and going to destroy enemy bases too much ...

... anno but with trains. The command center could act as the proposed throne room, enabling the RTS mode. Aliens could start attacking more often and in greater numbers (nearby bases combine forces for raids?) and without needing to be in a polluted sector.

I do hope that Factorio incorporates more RTS elements, especially a greater variety of base defenses and enemy types with a variety of abilities. I want to see more ...

You can have both RPG elements and throne room.
Warcraft system allows the player character to be the hero unit, the "one man army" on the battlefield albeit at the risk of losing your life and not having full overview of the situation.
