... nice to be able to prioritize spitters to be targeted first for other turrets tho... However, at this point, it might require much more time and ... it is now. True. I don't like this type of cheezy tactics like turret creep or mines spam. A bigger startup time for both might be nice change.

The efficient clear meta pre-power armor is using turrets as a firebase for cover and to fall back to, not as primary clear. or ... it all. Ok. I see, if turrets play a role, then it's this, instead of turret creep.

Grenades, landmines (this one is abit of an exploit), flame throwers, poison capsule, rocket launcher, tank, artillery cannons and spidertrons are the primary offensive weapons of the engineer. I may have missed some of the subtlety as many of these featured creeped up on me in my time in this comm...

Yes, but you need explosives (oil) and military science, which is not that early in the game. Military2 can be the first green science (reachable after ~30 - 60 min. playtime in default settings) I'm pretty sure it's easy enough to have oil setup by the time medium biters are around.
