I have to add some ideas to this.
R - rotates item, shift+R rotates item in opposite direction
In vehicle - you drive normally -> shift + movement will get 1/3 of turning speed so you can do precise maneuvers when navigating long curves.

I think mainly to secondary (tertiary) keys. I remember that from Battlefield, that for every action I could define two controls. Also - very cool - was the joystick-support, which could be linked to some specialized actions. Many, many games offer alternate keybind support. I was actually surprise...

This has changed with v0.9: you now need to place it first. Then click shift on a pole to remove all wires. See keyboard-settings! Now you can drag wires to that pole yourself.

For different keyboard layouts there is a better solution. Use scancodes instead of keycodes (for the programming) ...

... exact numbers for some things. Another possibility would be to enter some mode where you could additionally simply type the desired amount on your keyboard. That would be even better, but i guess the other system would be a lot easier to integrate into the game right now. What do you think?

I love most of the ideas, but the last one is actually wrong...ish. You can press Q to "dismiss" any item you're currently holding.
