Why do i always regret doing changes which i would say are for the better, not the worst? This change was primarily done for consistency with incoming feature to read fuel from biochambers.

[2.0.21] reading nuclear reactor fuel now includes depleted fuel cells

It appears that in 2.0.21 nuclear reactors now include the contents of the burnt result output slot when fuel is read with the circuit network. The previous behavior was to only read fuel cells being consumed or in the input slot.

I didn't find anything in the release notes that sounded like this ...

I played around with a bowed 4 way cross after seeing some other examples and it has slightly higher performance. It's also single chunk aligned:

I missed this other bug report from a few days ago when I was searching earlier. Pretty sure mine is a duplicate of this one:

MINOR CORRECTION: After carefully watching the first several minutes after loading this save file. I discovered that while most groups of biters behave as I described, a few groups do break away and show the normal behavior attacking the artillery turret outpost.
