Re: biters NEVER attacking makes for some depressing gamepla
See, I don't play EVE but I love the stories that come out of it. Battles where intellectual property worth $300k has been lost, Trillion-isk heists, a player flipping the entire economy of the game to the point where CCP had to step in or it would destabilize the entire game... You can't make that ...

Re: biters NEVER attacking makes for some depressing gamepla
I'm just curious - going by the environmentally conscious approach to colonization, would that not mean that in fact all alien life in the universe would adopt this approach?

Re: biters NEVER attacking makes for some depressing gamepla
I am aware that there is a basic story line. My point is that it could be expanded. Maybe in the future we could go beyond simple fighting for survival and actually colonize the planet - after all, that is what the story is preparing us for. Then, our factories would go from being just research ...

Re: biters NEVER attacking makes for some depressing gamepla
See that's the problem with a factory building game - where do you go next? What's the story line?
Gotta keep in mind that Factorio is in early development stages. More features are sure to come. But as it stands, the storyline takes a backseat in favor of gameplay and new features.

Re: Something I recently realised...
Maybe we could shape our approach a little bit differently then? We could arrive on the planet and befriend the biters somehow or pay ore resources for slightly cleaner factories while sacrificing some efficiency - because low tech eco-friendly stuff is more difficult to produce than regular low ...

Re: Friday Facts #23 - Year after
Id like to see a possibility of a texture pack in the future. I always preferred more modern styles to old, steampunk style. It'd be nice if we could choose the style we want to see or better yet, if technology would visually evolve over time. Thats my two cents

Re: Oil barrels
IMO we should eventually get train oil tanks to pump it in and out of the train as opposed to putting oil in barrels and then putting those barrels on the train.
Just a thought ^^

Re: Smart network - how?
I guess the requester chest is an idea ^^ I just thought this would be a way to speed up my research and make it more automatic. I thought about making buffers with splitters to just flood each lab separately but in order to keep them evenly supplied, I'd have to have 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32 labs. Which ...

Smart network - how?
I'm having a very specific problem.
Basically, not really knowing how exactly the system works, I've attempted setting up a network which will gather science packs to smart chests, only stocking up a few at a time in each one so that I can serve all my labs with one belt.
It looks like this:

Re: Factorio <> Industry Giant 2
I'm gonna vote Factorio because as much as I loved playing IG2, I simply can't run it anymore on modern hardware :S Don't think I ever managed to play it on XP, let alone Win 7... So yeah, it's has to be factorio because I can actually play and it's just more fun making a whole factory as opposed to ...
