When using the auto-update, it seems to crash if you have special characters in your Windows "User" folder. The PC I was using right now, had "Γ…" in its c:\Users\Γ…... \AppData\Roaming\... path, and I get an "Error opening update package:" and crash to desktop. I believe...

[0.9.8] - Deconstruction makes things (turrets) invulnerable

I'm sorry to report this but, it appears that deconstructing turrets (and other things) makes them not explode at 0hp, thus the biters will forever try to destroy them.
