I've disabled the peer-to-peer option - essentially what you saw was someone else (not you or the server) did not properly port forward/firewall correctly causing any attempts to join while he/she was online to fail.

you should be able to connect again now

disabled the peer-to-peer option, apparently forwarding ports is not standard procedure in all consumer grade routers -_-
