Re: Friday Facts #369 - To the moon
Well played. Very well played. You kept it just far enough on the side of believability to really, really, work.

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers
I think that's why astroshak's first answer is the standard - make them large enough that this question does not arise.

Re: Inserter clocking related question
But if it's an option that can be turned on deliberately, surely that's OK? If you don't want the inserter to wait for more items before moving what it has, you don't set a minimum on it.

Re: pollution error
Sounds like you're asking a question about the details of some mod, since there's no concept of "exhaust" in vanilla. So you're going to need to specify which mod you're talking about, just for starters. Either that, or you're using very unusual terminology (possibly translation?) and need...

Re: I am stuck with chaotic inventory. How do you play this game?
Ok, the first phrase is also my approach. I didn't find it useful, some furnaces are already full of coal, or they accept Carbon only. Vanilla inserters won't fill furnaces (or assemblers) with as much as they can hold (IIRC it's five units of fuel for furnaces, three copies of the recipe for assem...

Re: I am stuck with chaotic inventory. How do you play this game?
Getting random stuff in your inventory when working on belts is normal. I just stick them in whatever the belt was feeding - so if I was working on the belt carrying iron ore to the furnaces, put the ore into the furnaces when I'm done. And the quickbars are a great way to handle organizing your inv...

Re: Who is the player character?
Widely referred to simply as "The Engineer." After death, gets back up and keeps on working.
Clearly, he's a Time Lord.

Re: Why does the train crash?
Unfortunately I’m unfamiliar with how real life trains work. However I’m fairly certain they don’t allow crashes and would prefer deadlocking than crashing - which kills and destroys property. RL has very different considerations than a game. In Factorio, crashes are better than deadlocks in most c...

Re: Arsenal expansion? New turrets?
I wouldn't expect it. The combat options are already sufficiently diverse that they don't all get used. And sufficiently powerful to swat down the biters like, well, bugs.
There are accordingly better things to spend development time on.

Re: What does a negative amount mean?
To quote the Wiki, "[t]he logistic network numbers report items in provider and storage chests, minus the amount of items scheduled to be picked up by robots. When negative numbers are shown, it means that more items are being requested than are available in the network. " So your first th...

Re: Speaking of playing the game the way you want ...
Wow, you are right! I didn't realize that player can create fully-functional islands with robots :o Or even without, as long as you're willing to work within the engineer's reach. Can't make very BIG islands this way, true, but they can be plenty big enough for, oh, say, turrets. And a supply line ...

Re: Is using other people’s blueprints cheating?
My view is that using other people's ideas for inspiration - but figuring out how to make them work in detail on my own - is a very interesting middle ground. Importing blueprint strings, well, I'll do that for experimentation and inspection - but not serious use. Looking at somebody else's build an...

Re: Water supply for nuclear reactors
The second slider from the top governs how much energy it produces, the bottom how much it consumes. The top seems like some sort of limiter on either direction of flow? If you want an effectively-infinite source of power, set the top two all the way to the right and the bottom to zero. If you want ...

Re: Water supply for nuclear reactors
In my last 11 GW power plant, the last / last reactors(in the role heat pipes) fall at temperatures up to 700 ° C. This means that theoretically I can still add turbines until the temperature drops to 500 ° C. Doesn't quite work that way, I'm afraid. It's all about energy balance. If you're removin...
