I read todays FF and I think... you Factorio devs are completely clueless on this subject!
There's nothing wrong with bots being far more poweful then belts; they are a direct step up!
Stop trying to break what's not broken!

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts
Belts are only fun when trying out the first few of them.
As the base scales up, the annoyance of them goes up in proportion.
Getting to bots is GREAT because it allows redesigning the base to actually work efficiently with space and to expand much faster.
The way bots start off sucking now is ...

Something is wrong with the d/l.
15.15 experimental size 13.5 megabytes.
15.10 experimental size 608 megabytes.
Someone else reported the same thing here . It sounds like if you try again it might work for you. I've downloaded it twice now and it's the right size. Seems like there might be a bad ...

same one did the same thing for me.FallenPaladin wrote:Having problems downloading the MS Windows (64 zip package) version of the game. It only downloads about 13mb, and haha I know it's bigger than that.
NVM, it's fixed... ignore me...
Tried again and now the proper 600+ megabytes.

My only complaint about losing the quickslots as inventory is the loss of space.
So if if you are increasing base inventory space by 20, then I'm fine with it.
Just make sure you add a mini tutorial for it so new players understand!

Re: Friday Facts #189 - Specifying the 1.0
I just discovered that in .15.9, construction drones are unable to pick up corner tracks.
They were all inside the green construction area, but only the straight and connecting bits on the curves were picked up.

Re: Friday Facts #189 - Specifying the 1.0
I notice in .15.9 that the enemy creeps are building bases RIGHT next to my walls.
Isn't there supposed to be a minimum build distance of 3 world-tiles away for them?
No longer
Well that sucks! :-(
Only thing I don't like is the so called nightvision; I can't tell weather it's day or night ...

After finally getting to try them, I gotta say these new personal laser defences are perfect!
The map is really nice too.
Only thing I don't like is the so called nightvision; I can't tell weather it's day or night when wearing them because of that no-green tint thing.

Car, Tank and Train not listing their resistances anymore.
So how do we see what those resistances are?

Re: Tank flamethrower - why doesn't it set things on fire?
It was last minute addition. Intention was to give tank some short range AoE to roast group chasing you or clear your way in a forrest.
We reused flamethrower effect and ammo and called it flamethrower, even though mechanics of it are different. We will change that in future. I am thinking ...

Re: Friday Facts #189 - Specifying the 1.0
New map is awsome.
On the downside, the tank based flamethrower kinda sucks.
It currently has only 9 range, while the handheld flamer has 15.
Given that it is vehicle mounted, it should have equal or even greater range, then the handheld version... just like the smg does.
It should also function ...

low usage on the cpu now.
Go play on a OARC server that has ran for more than 30 hours. Have fun trying to catch up even with a 4,17ghz 8-core processor. Factorio is not a multicore application, so naturally CPU usage looks "low". But in big/long games, the usage is very high.

I got around to trying out .15.6 and I'm happy to see the copy/paste settings thing.
VERY nice quality of life addition.
Another nice thing is the game is using moderate ram and miniscule amount of cpu.
Very nice.
On the bad side, I notice many things still require multiple circuits to build ...

I like the one where you just darken the red and blue channels.
That last one, with the additional brightening hurts my eyes to look at.

I've gotten the one released today and the basic track laying is working again, but the shift click laying still doesn't work anymore.
If it really is a problem why not fill a proper bug report ?
That I bother to login and comment at all is miraculous.

I just noticed that drag-assemble tracks are gone from .14.
WTF?!?
