Re: Friday Facts #26 How to satisfy achievers
Achievements should not be (in my mind) about gathering huge numbers, or numbers in a number of hours. They should be meant to guide player, to encourage them to try, to discover. Examples. - "splitter" : you built your 1st splitter. It encourages people to actually USE the new patterns th...

Re: Something I recently realised...

Re: Friday Facts #24
Well... nothing really prevents every client to store snapshots of the map + all the events that occurred since this snapshot. Like this, when a client reconnects, it restores it's snapshot, plays forward all events and requests the events that occurred after in order to catch up. problem: it other ...

Re: Friday Facts #24
This can always be added after. You can imagine whatever mechanism you like, for example computing a hash for all objects in game and comparing it to the server's. Keep in mind that the goal is not to cheat on your client, it's to lure the server that you're actually doing more that what your client...

Re: Friday Facts #24
Well... wrapping up multiplayer will make this game legendary. Factorio is a well wrapped-up small masterpiece. Multiplayer will unleash it's power ^10 ! There are times I wish I was free so I could help (being a developer). How are you guys envisioning multiplayering Factorio ? Which approach do yo...

Isn't there a way to adopt a modular approach ? The goal is to split the code into modules. Each module produces a library. When doing a complete compile, the compiler only compiles if there were changes in the code base, otherwise it just takes the latest generated module library. I haven't been de...
