Re: Friday Facts #338 - The (real) Character GUI
Please nuke those gradients, especially the inner shadow gradients on the item grid, or at least ease their falloff curves into something that doesn't strain the eyes so much. I actually preferred the old flat UI look, it was sharp and had high usability value.

Re: Friday Facts #264 - Texture streaming
Try to minimize the discarding by applying a simplified mesh around the sprites so that most of the empty areas don't get rasterized at all. After all, the discarded pixels still get shaded...

I'll definitely do that if the damn thing is still there in 1.0, I don't really want to tinker with the base files unless absolutely necessary. I just totally foresee murphy's law in action, and I bet right after I finished modding the graphics the game would start checksumming them ...

Sorry for yelling. It's been forever since I was last able to play this game. It seems nobody else is affected by the issue, but certain kind of gradients (linear shadow gradients and certain kind of radial ones) wreck with my head and cause slight dizziness, headache ...

JESUS CHRIST CANT YOU FIX THOSE BEVEL/SHADOW/GLOW/ETC GRADIENT RAMPS INTO SOMETHING MORE REASONABLE FFS?!

Just one thing: that black blur near the borders inside of widgets (item slots, research buttons), KILL IT.
If you really NEED to have it, please render the effect to make it look physically reasonable instead of just slapping a cheap blurred bevel/inset effect.

Re: New UI graphics (0.15) are making game unplayable
You misunderstand, the same effect happens to me with every 0.15 inventory screenshot I can find online. The problem is the gradient in the slot background. It used to be flat gray, now it has a soft radial gradient. THAT's the blur. It's like there's a layer underneath that's out of focus, and that ...

Re: i find this game become boring after 100 hour.
Haven't played in 3 months but I suppose the big problems haven't changed recently. Endgame is a real problem, and the lack of replay value is also a real problem. After you've gotten used to the game, every replay feels like the same, even the randomly generated world feels like the same every time ...

New UI graphics (0.15) are making game unplayable
You know, the gui.png looks like it was slapped together real quick and I was hoping it was just a temporary placeholder and the artists would fix it before 0.15 went stable, but since it's still there I suppose I need to rant a little.

Re: Totalbiscuit was talking about Factorio
TB is totally pissed about early access games and the impossibility of reviewing them. Do you review the buggy alpha stuff that's unfinished and criticize it accordingly, or do you review the potential the game has? And what if that potential never materializes and the game ends up abandoned? Or ...

Re: [0.10.3] OSX missing graphics
Window resize has been causing issues to me all the time as well, some random images fail to work if I resize during loading. It has been like this since the first version I played, and resizing right after starting a new game (i.e. after main menu) has sometimes even crashed the game.

Re: Supression of the size shift of electric furnaces
Personally, I think the larger size isn't big enough a handicap for zero-coal ore processing. It's such a huge upgrade that it's not an upgrade anymore, it's a completely different way to process the ores.

Try restarting and launch the game before starting any other apps? 256M VRAM is very tight for the current version of Factorio, so many things can go wrong and even having youtube open in a browser might be the reason it's not lauching...

You mean the "write-data"? The name is confusing so I have no idea what it does exactly, but I read it also affects mods, scenarios and some other things. Not an ideal solution for changing just the savegame folder.kovarex wrote:You can configure the write-folder in the ini

Does your username have special characters in it? If so, try to drag the factorio.app to Applications and launch it from there.
