Re: Universal composer (combinators)
Holy crap, do you really need equal proportion and items in continuous bunches? Because my build gives only equal proportion... Can you describe an example when these bunches are needed? Edit: Ah, yes, it is my fault, I didn't describe how to run this stuff. After building this blueprint, most likel...

This topic is strange, I thought such system is obvious for everyone (but no one is protected from mistake :D )... Re: Fluid Flow Sensor (with Vanilla Version)
Instead of having two small pumps and charging-discharging cycles, you can use two tanks and one small pump between them. This small pump will be activated when input tank has more than 10 oil inside (this will allow to use small pump at full capacity) and output tank has less than 10 oil. Next situ...

Re: 0.13 Smart supply-train loader
You will have to wait till the day after tomorrow, because I won't have access to the PC in a few days. If user wants something he could set his own constants that would be multiplied *1000 (or so) and added to supply chest to "unlock" supply of desired item Yes, extra combinators for the ...

Re: 0.13 Smart supply-train loader
Do you change first filter signal? It can cause trouble if first signal filter gives item that is full in wagon No, this is made naturally. Also how do you know when to stop loading? In current version it will never stop, trying again and again to insert items, but when I add full stack support end...

Re: 0.13 Smart supply-train loader
Still working on the Holy Grail: - 9 combinators + 2 inserters - wagon supplied with 40 not full different stacks at full speed without waiting for output inserter - work with stack inserters and filter inserters - tested with not empty output wagon - 5/9 combinators have good design from my point o...

Re: Smart supply-train loader
I created meanwhile system that works with any tech, with a lot of different type of items and it is fast as hell (9 sec using stack inserter, your first was 17). It is easy too to setup items to be picked up etc. It just detects blockade, gets items back and doesn't let putting new ones. It will b...

Ok, and what stops us from creating the Holy Grail of train loader?

Re: Smart supply-train loader
Sounds promising, but I left the idea of using nut full stack after thinking on roboport (full stack is 5 items).
Also, filter inserter cannot have more than 5 items in filter (can this cause any problem?)
Edit: nevermind, wooden poles is an issue

Re: Smart supply-train loader
After you've built Tetris or Conway's Game of Life you know that anything is possible and that you could, in principle, do it. That part of the game is over, then. Quest chain has ended. Very, very and very reasonable, after reading your post I even think a bit why I am playing with combinators, wh...

Re: Smart supply-train loader
Your measurements gave me an incredible idea. There is one thing I enjoy very very much - The Challenge. The Challenge is an event when several people (or groups of people) have the same requirements and they have fixed (or at least limited) amount of time to complete The Challenge. Lets make a smal...

Re: Smart supply-train loader
The simplest solution is using few splitters (so in the end there will be always 1 item to be put to train), but it is really unefficient way I think (have to wait long time to insert everything) And again, how can simplicity be measured? What is simple and what is not? Is placing down blueprint fr...

Re: Smart supply-train loader
Inverted flummoxing. I've said it first. But seriously, it's very clever, but I'd like a simpler solution. Is there any? What do you mean "simpler"? - it should not depend on the tech level? - it should have less than 2 combinators? - it should control more than one stack inserter at the ...

Re: Smart supply-train loader
Pretty smart :P But as you said it works only on full tech? Actually you can make some constants adjustments (for stack inserter condition, lower belt condition, and output inserter condition) to make everything work on the lower tech. Like: if filter inserter capacity is N, then stack inserter con...

Re: Smart supply-train loader
Sorry guys, I really had to provide blueprint string together with built, but I didn't expect that you will be so engaged. And it is funny to see how you are reverse-engineering this build :D My guess is that he uses inverted flummoxing through bit-reversion in combination with real-multiplexing of ...

Re: Smart supply-train loader
Unfortunately, I did not managed to run your blueprint, because it seems you forgot to include inserters in it, and I don't know their conditions. But I like this idea, and tried to make my own version. This is my assumptions based on your printscreen, so they might be wrong: - you can load wagon wi...

Re: [0.13.3] [Rseding91] Smelting progress and rounding errors
It ends up getting used for the next item. That was the bug that caused it to slowly use extra energy. So, hmmm, isn't this then creating the situation I described above with uneven timing between produced items because some get a headstart and falling into an earlier tick? Yes, it is. If we need 1...

Re: [0.13.3] [Rseding91] Smelting progress and rounding errors
Fixed for 0.13.5. Thank you alot! I have only one last question about new implementation: http://i.imgur.com/0XkC3aI.png What will happen if some item doesn't need a full tick to be finished? Will the rest of this tick be ignored or it will be used for the next item? Also, can you clarify energy co...

Re: [0.13.3] Smelting progress and rounding errors
And again, I've wrote a small piece of code which simulates steel furnace behaviour (using float numbers) and it still gives exact results for 6 coal or 24 coal: 6 coal: http://codepad.org/L5BmSVz3 - 152 iron plates + 80/210 ~ 152.38 (as predicted by math) 24 coal: http://codepad.org/rIyBIrN4 - 609 ...

Re: [0.13.3] Smelting progress and rounding errors
That's the nature of floating point numbers when you store them with some fixed amount of space :) If you can solve floating point rounding issues in computers I'm sure a large amount of people would love to know. Until then, that's just how it is in Factorio. (152.38-151)/152.38 = 0.9% this is an ...
