Re: Factorio: Space Age is here!
Congrats on the release, looking forward to playing!! Is there any consideration for a package/ultimate edition which is Space Age + Base Game together for a set price? In Australia the base game is AU$50 and the expansion is AU$50, and I'm trying to convince two new friends to join me. This means t...

Re: Friday Facts #405 - Whole belt reader, New logistics GUI
>2000hrs and also didn't know 'L' existed :D I feel that the list of networks seems unnecessary now that you can click on them in the map. I'd remove the list of networks and dock the items on the right hand side like they currently show up when you hover over a roboport. I do like that you can scro...

Re: Friday Facts #366 - The only way to go fast, is to go well!
Finding a good balance is still an art. I think that is true in most walks of life, but especially in software. 3000 lines of code in one file, vs 1000 files with 3 lines in each... you need to find some happy medium. Developers often get swept up by an ideal and try applying it to every situation,...

Great read! Love the bit about the shareholders not wanting us to waste time refactoring... that's exactly what's wrong at work, we're always rushing on to the next feature, never paying down the tech debt and it's dissatisfying seeing the same error popping up again and again which we have to manua...

Can't wait for 1.1!! I was already drooling at the train tweaks, now spidertron is getting a buff and ghost building is getting perfected. So good! Re: Wube Logo 'Water' You said it's buildable in game... does that mean I can put an offshore pump in it when I need a well somewhere? Because that woul...

Re: Friday Facts #356 - Blueprint library for real
My daughter started demanding to play Factorio when she was 3, she just wanted to "put down the grass, daddy"... (I was playing an island map and using a huge amount of landfill while it was still grass texture). So I set her up with robots and a request for landfill. Then over time she th...

Did anyone else notice that the shell went off on a slightly different angle to the direction that the gun was facing, or is that just my CDO?

Re: Request: Max number of trains for stations
From my point of view this concept is showing its limitations and has low chance of getting into release. Implementation is possible but code wise, it is shotgun surgery. Sadface... the second .gif you did looked pretty solid (even if not perfect, still much better than status quo), though I'm not ...

Re: Let the car and tank move like the player does
I'm honestly surprised the about the positive feedback this idea is getting. For me this would kill the car. It's just so fun 100% with you on that, the car is like driving in a good old 2D 8-bit games, brings back great memories from my childhood (and possibly shows my age)... if you want fast WAS...

Re: Request: Max number of trains for stations
I set a challenge for my latest playthrough which was that I wasn't allowed to have a main bus or anything like that... I had to have individual mini factories connected by trains only (as soon as I unlocked them). So copper smelter factory, copper wire factory, green chip factory, yellow belt facto...

Re "Continue"... I play a mix of SP, MP with my kid, and MP with friends. I'm not saying you have to implement 3 different 'continue' buttons, but maybe if there was a way to setup my favorites and have them all accessible from a dropdown to the right hand side of the continue button... th...

Re: Friday Facts #327 - 2020 Vision
I feel like tutorials and welcome missions are what you end up with when you don't have a campaign (or at least some form of in-game guidance). In Starcraft, you don't play a tutorial, the whole campaign serves as your tutorial, drip-feeding you units, upgrades, concepts, etc until you're ready to d...

Re: Friday Facts #321 - Countdown
Awesome news, setting a release means you can go into feature freeze and just make sure everything is good and stable. It's a healthy part of the software development cycle. I thought it'd be out even sooner than September, but this works.

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Construction_Drones That ground based construction drone mod looks very interesting! I think I'll give it a go next time. I used this mod on my current playthrough - https://mods.factorio.com/mod/early_construction - it felt a little cheaty to have flying things so ear...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I get everyone's playstyle is different, and there are mods to tweak that, but after 500+ hours of factories over the past 3 years, this topic was finally controversial enough to make me create a forum account... lol. Given the fact that everyone is wrong on the internet, here is my 2c. Feel free to...
