Re: Version 0.17.67

GOG doesn't offer me the update (I can still update in-game of course).

Re: Friday Facts #309 - Controversial opinions

I usually use the import/export BP feature only to mirror my designs if I need them on the opposite side of the bus. There are online tools that can do the mirroring fine (despite the argument that it's impossible to do it 100% correctly and 95% is not good enough to bother) and don't void achieveme...

Re: Version 0.17.60

[...] I feel that worst was the way it was communicated. What I'm missing is some reason, or data. In all that 70+ pages of comments (I read most of them, but not 100%) I failed to find official reason WHY do devs even think that something as radical as this must be done, and on such short notice. ...

Re: Version 0.17.60

I already voiced why I don't like the oil change in some way in the other thread, but it was burried in the comment and unclear... Of course there is the short term pain of broken base, realism down the drain etc... But there are games in development that regularly wipe all saves (I got Factorio pre...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

If nothing else, it really enabled me to try new things. If I know I'm building temporary solution, I can make it REALLY temporary. I'm trying some of angels mods in this game, imagine assembly machine 2 set to empty water barrels in place of the pump. This looks very much like my very first plastic...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Well, it finally dropped. I think the waiting in past few days was maybe worse than the change itself, and most of the posts were just reiterating arguments already made. I won't update for now in the middle of my game, but will eventually when I'll be starting a new map. It's still a disappointmen...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Two, there's an achievement for not using logistics bots, so I figured I'd go ahead and get that now before I came to rely on them. Easy. This has come up before in recent FFF discussions: You are allowed to use logistic bots for supplying and trashing items to/from the player. You are simply not a...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

The key point being that a player thinks they have oil processing correctly set up and moves on to other things, only to find later that oil processing has stopped for unknown reasons. The delay between the problem being created and the problem becoming visible is part of what makes this tricky to ...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

I had this prepared for FFF304, but this just as good place for it... I have no idea how typical my noob game was, but since it was very recent, it might add some value in this thread (about $0.02 I reckon, adjust for for inflation and how blue the moon appears tonight as you see fit). I was putting...

Re: Version 0.17.59

Edit: was there some change regarding save file location? For a few seconds I was afraid my saves were lost when my game loaded empty. I had to copy them from %APPDATA%/Factorio to the installation directory. Did GOG previously use the %APPDATA% location? My copy did - C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roami...

Re: Version 0.17.59

This update also brings another thing that hasn't been mentioned. Updates to GOG Galaxy have now been (almost) automated, so for the GOG crew out there, you can now play on latest experimental like everybody else by switching Beta channels on and choosing experimental. I learned to use in-game upda...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

Just one more +1 for the "I think oil was fine" side. It WAS huge difficulty spike. My first refinery WAS an unholy mess (how naive I was when I thought I could get by with one refinery and 2-3 chemical factories doing whatever needs doing at the moment, and not reserving more space). In t...
