Not even 2 weeks ago Factorio had ~10.000 sales, now it's up to over 16000 in that little time. Now that credit and debit cards are accepted for a few days, sales have apparently spiked again. I just hope that Factorio reaches critical mass not too early, so the wave of hype carries over to Steam ...
Could it be the lighting calculations or something? I noticed that every accumulator emits light upon discharging ,and they all usually work at night when the solar panels don't work.
So, now that the new trailer is out and it's 1st of May, do you have a link to any of those famous Youtubers videos who were told to wait with the release till now?
I mean I'd like to send some particularly good examples over to my friends, since a Let's Play conveys more info than a trailer. One ...
Could it be that machines produce the said amount of pollution per unit produced? So, whenever your assembly machine crafts one item, it spits out ~3 pollution, same goes for the chemical plant, mining drills, etc.
That way, if you starve your machines of energy they will produce items more ...
It's probably necessary to have the whole map loaded, what with relying on rail connections to far away mining expeditions n all.
Or you could do it like Minecraft and add something like a chunk loader, a block that keeps a certain area loaded. That might be exploitable though, just loading an area ...
Once you release a working multiplayer, you should send out another set of review copies to some well-known Youtubers and have them play a co-op session.
Also you might want to consider offering 2-packs or 4-packs, like many other games do on Steam, for example.
What about convection and stuff like cooling towers? Convection and Cooling towers are only an enviromental protection measure. You can just dump the old hot water in the river and withdraw new cool water form there. That kills all the fishes, but factorio guy doesn`t eat anyways.
What about convection and stuff like cooling towers?
I've taken a tour through the coal power plant in our city once, and it was a frickin maze of pipes. They mostly extended upward from the boilers, the boiler chamber actually being the tallest building in the region, afaik. Also the pressure ...
I must admit I never used cars or trains, but can't you just use fillers as a gas station replacement?
I wonder if they'd fill up cars and trains with coal. But hey, we might get an oil industry some day, and then it will all change again anyway
Mods are made in lua, the game uses c and lua, and a big part of the mod added to the game, should be made in c# or it would be quite messy
That's why I'm saying they could just translate the code. I'm sure it's much easier to take already written code and just convert or polish it until it ...
Problem is that it was already pretty complicated in Minecraft to lay the actual redstone wiring in a 3d environment. I know mods like RedPower or the new RedNet system made it more versatile, but in a 2d game where you need every open space for belts, machines or even power lines, where would you ...
I dunno, I kinda like the open spots in the wall, since it appears to me that creepers try to path-find through them. That way I can focus my defenses on the open "gate" spots, whereas the wall itself serves just as a barrier to direct the enemy hordes into my turret arrays.
Would be interesting for a mod, where you could move your entire factory with a huge machine, just like the sandcrawler in Star Wars. Other than that, it would make trains and everything else that's supposed to connect long distances obsolete and kinda defeat the purpose of the game.
Speaking of which, will you possibly include some of the really good mods into the game? I know you frequently look through the code of many of the mods, and there is no shame in incorporating good mods into the base game, as long as the quality standards are being met. So, I know it's a stretch ...
I just searched through the suggestions and didn't really find something in this regard, so:
What about a basic on/off switch for power poles or certain buildings? I'd like to be able to just shut down certain sections of my factory, like, for example, a radar array or maybe the assembly machine ...
