Is high train braking force better? Not really...

Summary: Based on my investigation, a higher train braking force is not necessarily better. Based on the scenarios I tested, the general conclusion is this: High brake force benefits short train trips. The benefit decreases with longer train trips. At a given intersection (simple intersection), if ...

Re: Orders being created below the request limit

I MIGHT have found the problem. I think I didn't notice a constant combinator ghost behind my crude stop and added another one. I set a request limit really high to avoid drop-off requests being sent to my crude supply station. Well, I simply pressed "1" and held it, making the minimum req...

Orders being created below the request limit

Using LTN to deliver some crude oil, I ran into a situation where LTN was creating deliveries from my crude supply for less than the minimum request I set. I set it for a minimum of 50k oil (half a train), but it was still making deliveries for 40k something. At one point, when my crude oil was runn...

Better Statistics Screen

Anyone know of a mod or way to get better production (fluid, items, electric) statistics? Specifically, I would like to see a usage vs production line on one graph, with 0 being equal production and consumption, negative means production isn't meeting demand (storage decreasing), and positive means ...

Re: Train Selects Blocked Path

Tried a chain signal, but the train still chose the wrong path. I made a cheesy fix, see below, but it a lot my stuff here is cheesy, lol. Still would like to know why the train does this. If I pick other stations to the east, it still follows the same general path, but skips the blocked one, so I d...

Re: Train Selects Blocked Path

I'll try the chained signals. I don't ever use those, but I'll try it. The picker train can leave. I think I took out a signal trying to figure out what is going on when I took the screen shot.

Re: Train Selects Blocked Path

It's trying to go to a station to the east. I added a yellow arrow to the picture to show the desired path. I also took a screen shot showing the desired path from the map. I can't see any reason why it picks that path, instead of the desired yellow arrow path.

Train Selects Blocked Path

I thought the trains were supposed to select unblocked path if one is blocked. I have a station on one path (red arrow in picture) and a main line on the other (green arrow). Some of my trains are selecting the blocked path (red arrow), but not always. Usually they select the green arrow path. I sup...

Re: Simple Nuclear Throttle / Controller Using Requester Chest

You then start the process up by manually putting one fresh cell into the reactor. Since the system can only insert a cell while one is being removed, the number of cells inside the reactor should never change: if you started with one cell in there, it will only ever put one cell in there. That's w...

Re: Simple Nuclear Throttle / Controller Using Requester Chest

I tried that, but when there isn't enough steam, the reactor is emptied of all spent cells and filled up with new ones. I want to be able to put 1 at a time. Once a single fuel cell is used up, the reactor is still hot enough to make steam for quite a while, so even 2 cells in the reactor at one tim...

Simple Nuclear Throttle / Controller Using Requester Chest

I've seen some nuclear throttles/controllers that are a bit complicated, or not as reliable as I would like. So, I'd like to take a stab at it: Nuclear Throttle.png The very basic gist : Request only as much fuel as you want per round of nuclear fueling in a requester chest. Enable the requester che...
