Re: ( 12.22 ) Headless server crash.

I suggest banning source IP after 10 such packets/similar offenses -- otherwise headless servers will be useless now that you've opened the Internet's most famous kidiots storage (a.k.a. Steam)
Another quick idea is green-lighting correct IPs, and process only initial handshakes from other IPs.

Re: Steam release.

Yeah, I personally helped fighting off one idiotic negative (ie. "why are you reading the negs? go play the game" or whatever. Strangely, it got banned 5 minutes after I reminded 15 pissed off people in comments, that there's a report button. ;) Still - there should be 10k positive reviews...

Re: Steam release.

Then fail is strong with them. This should've gone out few hours before unlock date. Oh well. But still: better late than never!

Steam release.

I strongly believe, that Steam release is a very important milestone for Factorio. Actually, it may be the most important milestone ever. As such, I feel it deserves a one-time mass mailing to everyone that ever bought Factorio notifying them that this has happened, that they can claim their free ke...

Why isn't there a pre-purchase option on steam?

Re: Friday Facts #76 - MP inside out

I would really abstain from suggesting (obvious) features until at least 0.12. Due to the overall quality of the game, I strongly believe that reminder that this is alpha (unbelievable, right? ;p) is in order :) There are already mechanisms in the wild, like host migration, dynamic proxies for nat t...

Re: Friday Facts #76 - MP inside out

Yes, I would be looking at some hybrid mode too, but when game hits steam and our thousands of positive reviews convince others to buy the game, we will see how well Factorio will scale into tens of players on the wild internet :)

Re: Friday Facts #76 - MP inside out

Yes, it's obviously best to get rid of desyncs all-together, and I didn't see much of them even before 0.11.17 :) I wouldn't DDoS anyone. And most of the multiplayer problems don't exist if you plan with one other person ;) - problems, actually all kinds of them, start to show when you're playing wi...

Re: is not filter inserter

Well, my needs for such a contraption resulted from overlapping ore fields described above. I never needed any belt magic whatsoever. Must be doing something wrong judging from the amount of request for belt splitters/joiners/whateverers ;)

Uh, you totally misunderstood my post. I seem to be getting this a lot here, wonder if it's on my end :) Lets go from bottom to top, because why not :P Servers deciding whether a player is in sync or not wasn't meant as a way to ruin fun for players joining, but to prevent the clients from messing w...

Re: is not filter inserter

One can argue that even using smart inserters might be a bad design, and even normal inserters are smart behind the scenes when connecting assemblies. Currently making an "absolute" filter consists of stacking few smart inserters together, connecting them to active provider chests and dete...

Re: Requester chests should default to zero or one

So what's exactly wrong with "apply" and "are you sure you want to discard the changes you've made?" when attempting to close a window with unapplied changes? Microsoft figured it out years ago ;) The problem itself did bother me to some degree, too ;) Some way for drones to pick...
