I was also trying to use this for an interrupt system that checked if both an "In" and "Out" station were available for a wildcard before starting a delivery run and was pretty disappointed when it didn't work, so I hope this gets implemented.

From the FFF it sounds like the main menu backgrounds will be little scenes, where after each one is done it starts a new one? Have you considered doing scenes that just loop infinitely? What's the point of a "depot" in which empty trains "wait until they are needed"?
Just stack your trains at the dropoff.
The empty inventory condition does that, and full trains also double as a buffer that way rather than uselessly "waiting until they are needed".

I love to put huge numbers of turrets behind my walls but often find myself wanting to space them evenly, but doing so manually take significantly longer than just autoplacement. I would love to be able to set the autoplacement (click and hold to place things) to skip a set number of tiles.
