So I tried sending the email via gmail and got this:

Address not found
Your message wasn't delivered to 'press@factorio.com because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.

So it looks like there's no way to send the request after all?

I did indeed send it to the email address you listed, and do understand keys are not given out on the forum, however as the Factorio site says this is the best way to contact the developers so I posted about my email here :-)
