Re: [1.1.53] Unexplained Freeze / Lock Up when close to maximum tick value

I'm telling you - even if you do it in parts, without stopping - well, maybe it will take a month. Of course, I don't have everything open. But 8 million chunks - does that mean anything to you? And they are not evenly squared open, but all around the perimeter of the world. And how do you expect to...

Re: [1.1.53] Unexplained Freeze / Lock Up when close to maximum tick value

How can I explain it in a simpler way on my fingers?
The entire map in this game is 2000000 x 2000000 cells.
How do you expect to select an area with the mouse
1000000 x 2000000 cells? It's not realistic at all.

Re: [1.1.53] Unexplained Freeze / Lock Up when close to maximum tick value

It took my computer a good minute of chugging, and getting the selection rectangle to cover all corners of base while it was on the verge of crashing was also a challenge, but it wasn't very time consuming, certainly not on the scale of weeks etc. :)) Gentlemen are not to be taken at their word?) I...

Re: [1.1.53] Unexplained Freeze / Lock Up

Open editor (/editor) Pick a deconstruction planner and add all types of transport belts to its whitelist (undergrounds and spitters too, just to be safe). Deconstruct your base Are there less destructive ways to do this than to remove ALL! *transport and underground belts? My base is so huge that ...

Re: Best CPU : i5-11600K vs i7-11700K

In order not to make new threads, let it be here, maybe someone is interested. A little comparison of two rather old 11th generation Intel processors. Both processors were installed in turn on the same motherboard with unchanged parameters in the bios: Core Speed 4944 MHz 128 Gb memory DDR4 3498 MHz...

Re: Best CPU available: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D?

My results are just twice 40.
30 is not my result, it's someone who can't tune their computer :)
The results of the i5-6400 (35 UPS) are also mine, correct.
Some modern processors should be ashamed to play Factorio with a bunch of processor cores and low UPS :)
Life is pain.

Re: UPS Optimization - the full belt myth

https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/offer ... hive/36572
for Z170 Pro4 there are even two bios in the archive.
The bios is installed in the socket, this is 99% success.
I would try))

Re: UPS Optimization - the full belt myth

A little wrong. The motherboard is good and there is a pretty big chance to succeed :) The fact is that according to all Intel specifications, processors without the letter "K" are not subject to any overclocking, therefore the memory cannot be overclocked. But many centuries ago, Supermic...

Re: Best CPU available: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D?

Very interesting that the game uses 125GB when loading if it actually has that much memory available. No wonder it took me 20 minutes to load and plenty of swap. Please check this map, the results for processors are very interesting, and if you make a rating at current prices, it will tur...

Re: UPS Optimization - the full belt myth

Take away. 11x5 results, at the same memory frequency, on the spot. may come in handy. If I had an i5-6500 - the results would be higher :))) In addition to playing Factorio for many years, I'm also a long-term member of hwbot.org, if that's anything to say. I have hundreds of such screenshots from ...

Re: UPS Optimization - the full belt myth

When I say ideal conditions, it means that my computer was created only for a single game (guess which one?) Even this text I am writing on another computer. I have quite a few slow processors, I even have a 6400, though with the letter "K", I can accomplish the feat and try to run tests o...

Re: Best CPU available: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D?

Displaying memory speed is still OS dependent. In Windows 7, the script always correctly showed the current speed (it was 3740 MHz), now in Windows 10 it shows the nominal 2400 MHz (although the real 3491 MHz is very difficult to overclock with such a volume :))) As for the volumes, it’s much more i...

Re: UPS Optimization - the full belt myth

Bullshit test, nothing. Here 14493, 14493, 14286, 14085, 14085, 14085, 14085 and so 14286, 14085, 14085, 14085, 14085, 14085, 14085 if you discard the first two results (14493) - you won’t guess at all where which test is Factoriobox results taken under ideal conditions. Moreover, on the screen in t...

Re: Best CPU available: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D?

Thank you very much for testing my map. Approximately, I was counting on such a result :) If I had such an UPS now, I would still play on my map for a year or two, but since now - alas... And yet, with 128 GB of memory in MacOS, the map loads in 2 minutes ... Regarding some inaccuracies in displayin...

Good results, thanks. They confirm that the heavier the map, the smaller the discrepancy between the top Intel and AMD, and sometimes Intel is still ahead)) Well, since you have 64 GB of memory, you can try to run my map, not the most up-to-date and latest, but one of the last saves. https://drive.g...

Re: Best CPU available: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D?

I've been keeping track of the results for myself, but now I've found this thread and perhaps somebody else would be interested to see them. Wouldn't it be difficult to test several maps on a factoriobox?? The standard map does not interest at all, it is not interesting. This one, although the resu...

Re: [1.1.77][macOS] Unable to load too large save file

You could try cleaning up the map a bit, e.g. remove all decorations: thanks, but you can start a new map with the same success. This is unacceptable for me :) Fixes here are related to MiniZip, you may try extracting the save file into a directory using an external tool to try loading a save file ...
