Re: Friday Facts #108 - Unexpected Features

I just wanted to leave this here: http://www.netlib.org/fp/dtoa.c If you're going to write your own print formatting (printf replacement), you'll need a way to output floating point values. It probably won't surprise you that this part is harder than everything else put together! I haven't experimen...

Re: [0.12] Updating to .12 from .11.22 - Cannot run Auto-Updater

I had this problem as well ("Error when opening C:/Program Files\Factorio\data/../tests/run-tests-x64.bat for reading: No such file or directory"). That tests/ directory exists, but there is no batch file in that directory. Actually, there are no files at all, just an x64/ directory (and t...

Re: Friday Facts #92 - Personal roboport

My modular armor was *already* full. Full of sweet juicy goodness from all the modules. And I must have this, so what to sacrifice? One of the four exoskeletons? One of the five personal MK2 shields? So much sadness, so much excitement. A little more research at the top end of the tech tree would be...

Re: Game keeps saying 25 objects are missing construction ro

Of course if you let the automatic insertion of robots into the ports run for too long, you can end up with a few thousand extra robots that you didn't really need .

It'd be nice if there were a way to count active robots so that I could turn off production automatically :).

Re: Thank you (Make the dev-team happy today!)

I love Factorio and am a little jealous of you guys :). I worked in the game industry for a short while and then moved into CAD (I now work for a pretty big company )... well, I do love my job, but sometimes I start thinking about all the fun algorithm problems in Factorio and I wish I were helping ...

Re: Friday Facts #73 Minds versus bytes.

I'm excited for a space part of the game. It's not totally clear from the comments so far, so I thought I'd talk about the bits that I'm excited about. I really want the surface factory to stay relevant during the space phase of the game. I think the surface should provide a supply line for getting ...

Re: Electric energy

I find that in the late game, I use tons of solar power, and usually shut down my steam generators. This means I'm spreading out far and wide to find enough oil (mass battery/plastic production!), while leaving vast fields of coal totally untapped because it's nearly useless. Arguably, that's just a...

Re: Friday Facts #72 Back to the cold

What is the book? I'm pretty sure it's one of these: http://store.lds.org/images/estore/products/121/162700_34406121_p_348.jpg source i.e. the Czech edition of the Book of Mormon. So the guy giving the package was probably a Mormon from Texas (I'm also LDS, so recognized it). We have a longstanding...
