Two weeks ago somebody posted a question about updating this mod on reddit. I downloaded the fix there, but now my Station go to controllers don't work after resuming a save. Which kind of sucks, since I had this awesome automated train dispatching system going on. :(

So maybe there needs to be some peaceful goal for those of us not interested in blasting aliens.

There will be. Not in this release, but soon. The idea is that you will be able to communicate with the aliens and make sort of diplomacy with them. Then you don't need to kill and they won't attack ...

What I am experimenting with now is basically what is being demonstrated in this thread .

For it to work you need a loop so things keep moving. If not, at some point all inserters might end up having stuff in front of them that they don't need, and everything grinds to a halt. However loops might ...

I agree. Whichever way you spin it, if there's no aliens the game becomes kind of pointless at a certain point. So maybe there needs to be some peaceful goal for those of us not interested in blasting aliens.

That said, the goal of making a profit doesn't seem like it would go well with this game ...

So I was trying to make a mixed belt kind of setup. The problem is of course that you run the risk of one item flooding the belt, leaving no room for other items, breaking down the entire system.

One way to avert the problem (other than never wearing the battery down to the point of hibernation while in-game *eyeroll* :p) would be to never use the most recent save after a hibernation event.

Obviously so. But we're not 100% sure that it is the problem, and of course this shouldn't happen ...

Hi,

I think I'm late to the party here. But here are my views.

Personally I play freeplay without aliens interfering in my stuff, but I could envision a sort of Herzog Zwei style combat system: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herzog_Zwei since it would provide some middle ground.

In that case, sorry for not telling you.

Is there a simply way to time the hibernation to coincide with autosaving? Or maybe it is just not needed. I'll try to get some forced hibernation going on this evening to see if I can screw up my game. I'm counting on you guys to fix it if I do!

I've been spending quite some time in the game (too much, some would say) expanding my network, adding signs etc. but the bug has not yet reappeared. It just works gloriously fine.

Alright, I will try around.

As a side note: I tried to get my other game to work (like that one better), but I couldn't get game.player.character.getselected.die() to work.

What exactly do you mean by "Make sure the rail tracks are selected"? Should I hover over them with the mouse?

Hmmm that's too bad....

I did start this game in 0.5.3. I've got no saves from before it happens. I'll try to manually destroy the tracks and rebuild them once I've got the time.

I have no luck with trains it seems... After an error (other thread) messed with my last game I started another. I was happily wasting time, until the train started entering my station loops from the wrong side. It does so consistently. It worked for a long time, and then the train decided to stop ...

Totally forgot to say what I was doing;

You see my rail network basically consist of a Northern Loop (which in turn has two sort-of loops) and a Southern Loop. The southern loop was just added. I added a train to the southern loop (the northern one already had one), but the trains wouldn't run. So ...

I started in 0.5.2, it's the only version I ever had.

Thanks for the tip on destroying rails, but I just started a new game, which is way cooler anyway, so nothing lost!

"Rails can not be mined"

Hi all,

I'm trying to construct a rail system but it consistently fails to work well. I don't mind tinkering with it a bit, but now I can not seem to remove rail. I get the message that the "object can not be mined". Has anyone ever encountered this? If so, what do I do?
