Re: "Going NUTZ!!!" - Now this is what I call a MEGA BASE

Nice stuff. Inspired by your showing of the "process," not just the finished state. In a future build I'll have to remind myself to capture my base state more often!

Re: Isthmus Fortress v2

Thanks! For a "structured" base it can be helpful to pick a grid unit defined by power poles and stick with it, only breaking your grid for highlights and exceptions. Over time you tend to develop standards for the placement of elements which provides for visual consistency, as well.

One Thing: I ...

Isthmus Fortress v2 [0.14]

An "isthmus" is a narrow piece of land with an ocean on either side. It's also my favorite build environment.
Hope you enjoy the build. Would love to hear your comments or pointers to any pretty factorio builds.

Re: Landscaped! A Factory with its Shirt Tucked In

I found some time to finish up my factory, expanding to a couple more outposts and launching a rocket.

Having aliens on super-hard is super-tedious, it turns out, but I liked the tension.

Re: Landscaped! A Factory with its Shirt Tucked In

I'm tempted to put the old base on autopilot and scout a place to start fresh on a new, self-sufficient base developed entirely with end-game tech. I imagine the aesthetic would turn out a lot differently considering the flexibility of substations and robots over transport belts.

I'd preserve a ...

Landscaped! A Factory with its Shirt Tucked In

I have a background in architecture, so my factory tends to be a bit composed to fit the landscape. Sometimes I do this at the expense of a little efficiency, but it feels worth it.

A grid defined by tier II power poles overlays the landscape. I try to respect existing trees and water edges when ...

Re: Isthmus Fortress

For an OCD person trying to neatly fill up space, solar fields are like wallpaper.
