[Moderated by Koub] no insults please.

I have enough gray hair and I am far above nonsense like that.

Maybe it's me who is misunderstanding you.

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Sure, but you are not talking about the new players that is what it is done for. A new player after many hours still does not find challenges until the AO, it will take more than 15 hours of boring game and you will find what is avoided that you are 5 hours before, it is absurd. And this is of cour...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Can any of us really remember what we felt about oil setup the very first time. Can we then understand how we had reacted if the new system had been the first oil setup we did? I. doubt. that. This is why I'm in the "don't care" camp. My first oil set up was 3 years and 1700 hours ago. I ...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

To answer to some of your arguments: A player likely might look at the tech tree, firstly by seeing some yet to researchable techs in the actual tree or the list. Secondly by wondering how to get those cool looking bots (to know about them beforehand by youtube or some other means dosenโ€˜t seem to f...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

A player accustomed to playing games like the ones mentioned will now find that yes, there is a new material, oil, to see what I do with it. But you don't have to do anything you haven't done so far! I replace the ore extractor with the pumpjack, replace the conveyor belt with a pipe, and the oven ...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

The problem is that what you call oil processing is nothing more than a graphics change, it's like a simple "iron processor". There is a simple extractor (pumpjack) that reaches a "assembler" through a pipe where a simple product comes out. But that's the point. The product now ...

[...] (the chart omitted the '0' in 0.17.60, the red line) OilDifficultyPercent.JPG Neither of those is particularly smooth, but I think we can agree the second is way harsher. Actually it's funny, I was tempted to make such a graph to illustrate the exact opposite, but was defeated by my laziness ...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

The "there are too many things on petroleum gas" point is really dangerous to change - if for example we would put sulfur into heavy oil, it could very easily happen that your refinery would deadlock because you only want to produce batteries/acid, say for mining uranium and laser turrets...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

I have also uninstalled the game after more than 2500 hours and playing almost every day. The shot has been that my 11-year-old daughter has literally told me: "Now that is super easy," and now prefers to play the "Oxygen not included." A pity that has stopped listening to the p...

Re: Version 0.17.60

Except the target audience for this change isn't even playing on the experimental branch , they're playing on the stable branch. The people whose feedback is needed for this won't get this until it's been declared stable and extremely unlikely to change again. So please explain into which version t...

Re: Version 0.17.60

I had a strong feeling it was going to be done because the devs were dead set on the fact it had to be changed regardless of any logical reasoning to counter it. A change for the sake of change. I'm also not surprised that feedback was dismissed either, given that V seemed to be the only one who ac...

Re: Version 0.17.60

Disappointed. Factorio was something else. There were challenges and we had to find solutions. The developers listened to the community to improve the game, make real challenges already balanced. But money can do everything, you have to attract new players and fill the pocket that is emptying. Altho...

What is clear is that the devs are reading us and thinking what to do, the release that should have come out on Monday has not yet done so.

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

Simplifying the game to make it easier for other people to play it seems like a joke, if what we want is even more difficult, the introduction of more liquids (gasoline, diesel), or more minerals, or more recipes, or more ... If many new players are attracted to the game because of version 1. The i...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

The problem of the designers is that they must not have realized that many, but many many players do it precisely because of their difficulty and the time that must be invested to solve the problems that the game proposes. Simplifying the game to make it easier for other people to play it seems like...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

I play Factorio because it makes me squeeze my head, it makes me think, it forces me to organize myself ... if we are going to remove that, it is better to warn already. Tell us that from now on it will be easier for the newbies not to have to think so much ... and I get off this train.

Map editor...

Sorry for my english. One thing I miss in the editor is the ability to fully customize the map and resources. I would like to make a map for myself in which there would only be a deposit of each of the resources, and I would also like to have a personalized amount of those resources. Now if I put a ...
