Sound improvements are awesome, I guess we don't want it too realistic, like trains as they go around bends having their wheels squeeling!
That could get really annoying, quite quickly, during gameplay!

Re: Factorio forum feed SSL Certificate Expired
Happy to, didn't know about that one. I setup my RSS Feed aggregator with a factorio forums feed over 3 years ago, it worked, saw no need to change. However, I figure it's good to let people know if things are not working, rather than bitching about it. I know I would appreciate being told if one of...

Just thought I would let someone know that https://forums.factorio.com/forum/feed.php SSL certificate expired yesterday.

Re: Only one bot can interact with a chest at the time
I agree with this in principle, but make it so that as many bots can interact with the chest as inserters. Also make it so the bots add/remove stuff from the chests at the same speed as a top tier inserter, maybe marginally less, because bots can fly diagonally to their destination, belts cannot. Al...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
Just a note, it's been a little while since I played, so maybe my comments, below, are no longer relevant. I think that bots should be nerfed such that only a limited number of bots can access a chest or construction item at one time. It's completely unrealistic that 100+ bots can all get stuff from...

Re: What particular flashing icons mean
Challenge in making these icons is that they should be understandable without a manual. It seems this one is not good enough. In the wiki, a sample of an icon and a one sentence explanation as to why it is shown would do. Alternatively, hover cursor over it and a tooltip tells me what it is trying ...

Re: What particular flashing icons mean
Thanks for the prompt replies, however, is there somewhere that documents this, and other icons as well?
A user manual, perhaps?
PS. I did try squinting before posting the original question, but, obviously, my imagination is not up to it!

What particular flashing icons mean
I see this flashing icon and I don't know what it means.
Where can I go to find out what all the various flashing icons mean?
I tried googling but obviously I am not using the correct search terms.

In which case, I should not have acquired 6 achievements in Steam, at exactly the same time, when I loaded the downloaded map.
Oh, no mods.

Re: Very slow on linux 64
FYI, I have no problems on my dual monitor, Gentoo linux 64 Intel i7-7700, nvidia GTX 1060, proprietary nvidia video drivers, xOrg, no rotation of monitors running under Steam. Just thought I would indicate that not everyone has a problem here, but then, my setup appears to be a touch more powerful ...

[15.21] Achievments obtained by loading saved games
I downloaded a saved game in response to a poster saying the rocket was stuck. I started the game and all of a sudden, I have acquired achievements that are relevant to this saved game, not to my efforts. May I suggest that when a map is created, the licensee is recorded as the creator and only the ...

Re: .15.21 Rocket Counter Stuck!
I downloaded the game and loaded it in 15.21 and the rocket launched within 30 seconds of me loading the game. The next rocket launched shortly thereafter. As an aside, I have a stack of achievements now that I previously did not have, shows how much I play the game lately. Personally, I think it's ...

Re: Underground belt lane splitting, anyone else hate it?
I hate how I have to go to so much effort and real estate to split lanes.
A lane segment with an option to 'block' either left or right would do!

Re: Power won't switch on`
I noticed my boilers may have been back to front, I have tried reversing their direction to no avail!
Reverted to Factorio 0.14.23, practically the same setup (different sizes and graphics, obviously) and my electric setup is working.

[Solved] Power won't switch on
Hi, I decided to have another play of Factorio after quite a break. Running from within Steam, on 64 bit Linux (Gentoo to be precise) I can't seem to get my steam power to work. There is a water pump, boilers (which are primed with coal), a couple of steam engines, power cables from steam engines to...

Resource Depletion
Just a quick thought, as factories exhaust resources nearby, we have to venture further afield. How about a 'rare' event of an asteroid smashing down somewhere that provides rich mineral resources in it's impact crater? Would be unfortunate if it landed in the middle of you factory but thems the bre...

Re: Friday Facts #175 - Programmable Speaker
Why don't you use TCP to downloading the map? You will get a higher speed for high volume transfer, and won't have to take so much care in what's between the 2 end points. I second this, TCP connection, write the whole map, it's guaranteed correct order delivery. Leave error correction and recovery...

Re: Map download never finishes [14.5] headless windows
I have not looked at the network packets as yet but is it possible that you are 'accidentally' forming a TCP/IP packet or some other protocol, given UDP is the basis for TCP? Does wireshark categorise or identify the 'rogue' packet as something other than what you expect it? An awesome on-line resou...
