Re: Kovarex Uranium Enrichment Setup
I recommend you to look at this setup: https://youtu.be/yA21zrqMMq0?t=303 You can modify this to make sure that all excess U-235 would leave the setup. Possible way to do this: get the current number of U-235 in boxes and inserters program inserter that takes out U-235 from this setup to be off by d...

Re: The perfect Factorio computer
I think it's better to stay with your current GPU until it became obvious that it can't cope with the task. As for CPU, I would look at Ryzen 3, but here(https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/4h647g/factorio_performance_test_cpuram_based_fpsups/) was stated that "Ryzen is not a good proces...

Re: The perfect Factorio computer
Ryzen / I7 8 or 16 GB RAM. 8 should suffice, but if you want to futureproof things, double it. 500GB or larger SSD. Geforce 1070 with 8 GB video RAM. Go with a 1080 if you want to run other highly demanding graphics games. come on, I'm sure gaming PC that he sold is worse than that I sold my gaming...

Re: Turret DPS and cost-effectiveness
When burning light oil the turret consumes 3/sec, which is effectively consuming 3.75MW worth of steam energy That would violate one of my assumptions: 1 Crude oil = 0.1 Raw Resource 1 Coal = 1 Raw Resource = 4MJ of energy Which is ok, but we need to be clear about that. You give [oil more value], ...

Re: inserter and bot problems
Can't tell for sure, but probably 2. Bots don't bring my character the red ammo. It works just fine with the yellow ammo as well as any other thing that I request. It shows the red ammo in the logistics network, but for whatever reason bots won't bring me any red ammo even though it is requested (re...

Re: Turret DPS and cost-effectiveness
Are those numbers per shot or per second? DPS = damage per second Good points, BlakeMW. I want to add that laser turrets have a drain i.e. maintenance cost - 24kW or 21.6 Raw Resource per hour if on steam energy. That isn't much even for early game, but should be considered as a drawback for places...

Turret DPS and cost-effectiveness
I want to share some math about turrets and their ammo. Be aware that there are different numbers over the internet, that may be because one didn't account damage resistance, have different patch, or one of us did make a mistake. So I encourage you to do the same math and check the numbers. DPS agai...

Re: How to evaluate pollution?
Factory --> pollution --> biters --> damage points needed --> amunitions --> cost, and there's a formula for each steps, albeit not a simple one for steps 2 and 4, and one very dependant on the specifics of your factory for steps 4 and 5. That's fun because I had calculated damage per resource for ...

Re: How to evaluate pollution?
It seems that it is actually possible to evaluate pollution and it is quite directly linked to resources. Miners and furnaces are the key elements of every base and the main contributors to pollution. Basically, you are paying for all of the resources with pollution. Pollution "cost" of th...

Re: How to evaluate pollution?
Ok, lets start with simpler question. Lets say we have one electric mining drill, one assembling machine 2 and one efficiency module Electric mining drill has Energy consumption - 90 kW Pollution - 9 Assembling machine 2 has Energy consumption - 150 kW Pollution - 2.4 Where to put efficiency module?...

Another note about probability If you have good enough chance of winning and lot of trials like playing slot machine, you would have results pretty close to your expectations, that's why slot machines is the most lucrative thing for casino - it just constantly brings money without noticeable risks. ...

Re: How to evaluate pollution?
Pollution generates biters. Biters cost ammo, repair packs and losses in damage. https://wiki.factorio.com/Pollution Pollution is absorbed by trees and terrain. The initial cost of ammo is pretty high, but higher tech gradually brings that cost down to near nothing. Yes, I know all of that. The que...

Re: A very low U-235 production
one of my centrifuges produced at least three units of U-235 in a relatively short time, which, once again, seems to be defying the odds Again, it's not. It's just we as humans expected random to be predictable: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/moslive/article-1334712/Humans-concept-randomness-hard-...

Re: A very low U-235 production
there was only a single fuel unit in the assembler's inventory If you mean uranium fuel cell and there was no inserters on output, then I assume it was 10 cells Is it somehow possible that the RNG is broken? It actually not. One centrifuge produces one U-235 every 1905 seconds (31.75 minutes) on av...

How to evaluate pollution?
Using several assumptions I can bring raw resources and energy to one equivalent and then calculate all costs in it. Which makes it very handy to compare all sorts of investments. However, I don't know how to evaluate pollution. Currently I just ignore it in my calculations, but I am not happy with ...
