I tried what you said and I got this error message on the new save:

Error while running event level::on_tick (ID 0)
.../AppData/Roaming/Factorio/temp/currently-playing/pvp.lua:466: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'n' (a nil value)

Thank you for the fix it works on a new save file but i doesn't work on an older file.
any change this could be fixed to or there is already a way to fix this? otherwise to bad.

i have researched robot worker speed to 10 right now and that would be a bonus of 490% speed but i only get a bonus of 250%.
hope this will explain it enough

If you select the option for a starting set you get 250% bonus robot speed at start.
when you get a higher number in research and die it will reset to 250 and you will lose your progress.
quite annoying.
