There's a good reason that most devs who talk about them say to straight pirate rather than give them money. "Not line up properly" means you can hear a very clear buzz when playing the sequence of tick-long sounds. As for what I'm trying to work around: Factorio speakers currently don't stop playing when you stop the control signal, you can't adjust the volume of the sound currently being played...
