I figured out a workaround (show package contents->contents->MacOS-> factorio open with terminal) on OSX 10.6.8 This worked for me on 0.12.7. However, using this trick in the last update 0.12.8 results in a completely messed up startup screen (with trains all over the place and a visually challenged...

What is the point of more alarms if you're unable to click 'm and goto? From early on I found the 'bound centralist' idea in factorio very interesting and finally something different than rts (god view once you have radar).
