I have no idea of the work involved, and I have no idea if it would even be attractive to play, but I would so like to be able to look at my factory from a "board game" perspective...

I have in excess of 3000 hours in my factories, but have noticed that some keyboard shortcuts get quite painful ...

[wheybags] Compilatron message prevents fuelling burner inserter

When accumulating gear wheels and copper plates for the compilatron, it sits displaying a message, but the burner inserter feeding the quuest container runs out of fuel at 48/46 gears/copper, and the icon is barely visible under the message, plus unless you know to zoom all the way in, it is not ...

I have blueprints for stations, and can just go and adjust the amount that has to be available for the station to be enabled. I'd like to be able to control incoming rail signals to indicate if the station has enough for two or more trains, but this requires me to go there in person, rather than ...

This would indeed help debugging train systems. Likewise having a possibility to mouse over a train in the map view and seeing where it is trying to go (highlighting the available tracks and also showing the destination station)

I am struggeling to find out why two trains cannot switch places ...

It then works inconsistently between normal, fast and express belts and underground belts too.

I still think it seems odd that you can replace an entity with something completely different... Should you then also be able to replace an assembling machine with an inserter or upgrading inserters ...

Place a line of standard conveyor belts
Place a standard splitter in the line of conveyors
Equip a stack of express conveyors in hand
Upgrade the standard conveyor by clicking and holding the mouse and using the ASDW keys to move along the conveyor

Expected result
The standard conveyor ...
