Re: Friday Facts #236 - Building a rollup

I really really love the posters. Effiency is not important to me when its a display, especially a still one. Actually, I agree with whoever says its Art. As a matter of fact, two of my nephews started a company called Cook & Becker, who print Art quality concept art etc. Might be cool to add th...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

Seeing as some people commented on diminishing returns, has this been considered or mentioned in detail before? Regardless, I named this as my sollution to bots scaling linear (and belts scale till theyre full or out of space in the setup) is because we had a similar issue in From the Depths. That g...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

But most of all I would love to see a new transport mode which sits in between bots and belts: Codenamed: Robots on rails Hah, I actually had an idea exactly like this, but then I realized that basically we are just asking for trains, but smaller. Right now, I'm not in favor of adding a 4th type of...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

Btw. on a different note: Why do you even have to visualize the amount of items in a stack on a belt to begin with? You don't visualize the amount of items that a Stack inserter (or normal inserters considering that you also get a few stack upgrades for normal inserters) is currently holding, so wh...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

Theyve actually talked about increasing the belt throughput directly through either stacking or packaging, but I think their counter arguments stand true. Stacking on belts doesn't improve their attractiveness for min maxing as long as bots can still do the same with now space restrictions.

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

My own response to last weeks FF got lost before posting. I have done game system concept design on games (From the Depths most notably) and the 45 page thread about belts is really fascinating. Almost no-one is saying the current situation is actually fine. There are some problem, but the solutions...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

Personally, I think there might just be a missing link. There is no better alternative, so increasing cost or reducing effectiveness doesn't really solve the problem, the problem being: - Space efficient transportation - High volume transportation Bots solve both There is nothing which provides this...
